Marie is a teacher, and she teaches English and Norwegian to students in 1st-4th grade. Marie first learned about intermittent fasting in the spring of 2022, and she was first interested for the potential health benefits, as she had been experiencing aches and pains related to a chronic health condition.
Marie was a skinny child, and didn’t worry about her weight as she was growing up. That changed when she moved to England and started gaining weight slowly. She recounts dealing with multiple health issues, including a diagnosis of epilepsy and a discouraging prognosis about having more children, which led to depression, and further weight gain. She shares how these experiences motivated her to explore intermittent fasting, inspired by a fit and healthy couple she met during her travels.
The discussion turns to the practical aspects of intermittent fasting, with Marie emphasizing the benefits of clean fasting and the positive impact it had on her health, including reduced aches, fewer headaches, and an overall better relationship with food. Gin and Marie also talk about societal misconceptions about fasting, the importance of whole foods, and non-scale victories.
