Episode 8!
In this episode Yvonne and Tina are joined by Kristina Scheibler-Frood who is a Principal Structural Engineer in London!
Kristina specialises in refurbishment for existing London buildings including retained facades.
In this episode Kristina shares with us how she would like refurbishment and rehabilitation become the norm as opposed to demolish and rebuild from scratch. There are amazing things that Structural Engineers like Kristina can do to re-purpose and refurbish old existing buildings for modern regulations and even increase the number of floors. To become a more climate and sustainable conscious industry , the mentality of the construction industry needs to change to make better use of the buildings that already exist.
In this Episode we discuss:
- How to inspire young people and build excitement around construction,
- Why refurbishment and rehabilitation is critical to the sustainability drive,
- Why Engineering can be a rewarding career,
- How to engage the public more in the projects that impact on their lives.
