Ep. 3 - Kyle Rittenhouse Trial in Kenosha Wisconsin Inflames Question for Christians on Self Defense & Guns

Recent Kyle #Rittenhouse Trial in #Kenosha #Wisconsin, as well as the Ahmaud #Arbery Trial in Brunswick Georgia, has again inflamed the question towards Christians regarding the 6th Commandment of God that “Thou shalt not kill”... should #Christians own guns, can they defend themselves using deadly force as self defense?

The Rittenhouse trial also raises questions about what followers of Christ SHOULD DO in dangerous situations and violent times? If not an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, then what does turning the other cheek mean? Does this also mean that military service for one’s country is also prohibited for Christians?

What about the bloody history of Christians in the Crusades and other religious wars? What about the history documented in the Bible of God’s people against other nations and people?

In this #podcast episode of The #DrWitnesser Show, we discuss, in light of this recent trial, how can a Christian today reconcile all of these historical Christian events with what the Bible says in the Sixth Commandment and of God’s character as a loving and merciful God. We also will discuss the immorality in society today, especially through normalizing violence. Do video games like Call of Duty make someone prone to becoming an active shooter?

Finally, we will review relevant #Bible verses, showing the distinction between descriptive and prescriptive, which puts these seemingly juxtapositions and contradictions in clear harmony and context of God's law and testimonies to us in these times. Many verses in the Bible explain God’s stance, so as to make clear the path for Christians to follow.
