The International Trademark Association (INTA) makes its way to the Sands Convention Centre in Singapore for an event that promises to be a gathering of industry professionals like no other. Keesha touches on the beneficial link between AI and IP on the island of Anguilla. AI stands for artificial intelligence and is also the country code for Anguilla. On the other hand, ".ai" is a top-level domain (TLD) on the internet that is specific to Anguilla. This use of .ai is unrelated to the geographical location of Anguilla; however, it has become a hub for technology and innovation in recent years. Just across the pond from Anguilla, we welcome a newcomer to The Global IP Matrix magazine, Natalie E. Glitzenhirn-Augustin, Legal Practitioner at Glitz Law in Saint Lucia. Natalie’s article, “EU Resources Boost the Caribbean Intellectual Property Environment”, gives us an insight into the relationship the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has with the Caribbean region and how it has been actively working to strengthen the intellectual property (IP) rights environment in the Caribbean region, particularly to support local businesses that trade their productsacross borders.
