Ali Leibowitz is a Marlow local and leader of the Marlow Ukraine Collective, a grassroots initiative providing refuge and support for displaced Ukrainian families.
When war broke out, Ali opened her doors without hesitation—turning her spare room into a safe harbour for a mother and daughter fleeing conflict.
Her selflessness sparked a movement.
This small act of kindness snowballed, with Ali bringing together a team of volunteers to provide housing, jobs, language lessons, transportation, and other forms of support to Ukrainian families in need.
Today, the collective helps over 150 displaced families, the majority now living independently thanks to the group's tireless advocacy and fundraising efforts.
Ali describes the initiative as a mission driven by empathy and humanity, not politics or bureaucracy.
Her goal is to help these families thrive again after unimaginable loss and upheaval.
Though the work is endless, Ali and her team remain unwaveringly committed to welcoming the strangers at their door.
