Let's take the journey On this week of MERI PODCAST with Kibret Abebe, a social entrepreneur who dared to shake up the health care industry. His story—multilateral and powerful on the virtues of the human spirit, resolve, and innovation—moved from modest beginnings through incredible tribulations to one that will not be forgotten. After helping a collapsed diplomat at Addis Ababa's airport, Kibret was inspired to leave his job at Black Lion Hospital and start working on a medical service that would fill the gaps in health care in Ethiopia. With no experience in business and no manual to guide him, each setback only pushed him harder, and he continued to write his proposal, after which he garnered support from the Ministry of Health. He sold his house to fund this venture and pioneered a resilient business model with dual objectives: bringing in profits while making a social impact. Today, his organization runs 12 ambulances, serving over 150,000 people and training 45,000 others. So, in this podcast, Kibret is joining me to share some valuable lessons on entrepreneurship, resilience, and finding innovative solutions to solving social problems. You will not want to miss the encouraging story of how one person's determination can make a difference and lead to positive change.
