For my latest “Props Clear” podcast episode, I had the honor of talking with Erin Roesler, Deputy Executive Director of the Northern Plains UAS Test Site. She’s positive, innovative and seems to love a challenge.
The Northern Plains UAS Test Site in North Dakota is one of 7 in the nation. The Northern Plains UAS Test Site doesn’t just wait for groups to come to them—they’ve operated in 17 different states! Here’s a full list of the test site locations if you’re wondering:

Roesler and I talk about the creation of Vantis, a statewide UAS network which includes an operations center, integrated infrastructure, the data network, ground control stations, and aircraft. This network supports BVLOS (Beyond-visual-light-of-sight) flights, which can be used for so many industries. Think of it as a highway in the sky!
As one of the videos explains on Vantis’ website, it would make it possible for operators to “see all aviation vehicles, manned and unmanned, in one picture”. What I also love is the part of the product can be built on existing infrastructure.
Roesler also shares why it’s important for UAS experts to have continued outreach with the traditional aviation community.
