Seeing is Believing: Let's talk LiDAR
LiDAR can show you the world in a whole new perspective.  Just ask Jeff Fagerman, CEO and Founder of LiDARUSA.Jillian Angeline sits down with Jeff to talk about his journey with Light Detection and Ranging.  He says technology is so good these days, the machine can send up to 3 million laser pulses a second to the ground, mapping the world with coordinates."Take your paintbrush, a four-inch paintbrush and dip it in a bucket of paint, put it on a string and spin that bugger as fast as you can get.  If you did that in your living rooms, it's a disaster, right? Everything's covered.  And that's how LiDAR works," Jeff told Jillian.Jeff is creative and resourceful, recounting how he and team members would visit Toys "R" US to get ideas for their LiDAR setups, going as far as buying toy cars, taking them apart and calling the manufacturer to get more information.Jeff is all about family too, especially grateful for his wife's support.  His grandkids are even using drones to help herd sheep on their solar farm.  You'll hear about this, and so much more.  Thank you for listening!***SUPPORT***CASH APP: $PropsClearhttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/propsclearIf you have suggestions for topics or guests on Props Clear, email angelswings.jillian@gmail.com.For more information about host Jillian Angeline, visit www.4jillianangeline.com.*Disclaimer: The Props Clear podcast is for informational, educational and entertainment purposes only. Do you want your Amazon packages sooner? So does she!
“So that drone is just a little worker bee.”For my latest “Props Clear” podcast episode, I had the honor of talking with Erin Roesler, Deputy Executive Director of the Northern Plains UAS Test Site.  She’s positive, innovative and seems to love a challenge. The Northern Plains UAS Test Site in North Dakota is one of 7 in the nation.  The Northern Plains UAS Test Site doesn’t just wait for groups to come to them—they’ve operated in 17 different states!  Here’s a full list of the test site locations if you’re wondering:Griffiss International Airport, NYNew Mexico State University, NMNorth Dakota Department of Commerce, NDState of Nevada, NVTexas A&M University Corpus Christi, TXUniversity of Alaska Fairbanks, AKVirginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, VA(Source: FAA)Roesler and I talk about the creation of Vantis, a statewide UAS network which includes an operations center, integrated infrastructure, the data network, ground control stations, and aircraft.  This network supports BVLOS (Beyond-visual-light-of-sight) flights, which can be used for so many industries.  Think of it as a highway in the sky!As one of the videos explains on Vantis’ website, it would make it possible for operators to “see all aviation vehicles, manned and unmanned, in one picture”.  What I also love is the part of the product can be built on existing infrastructure.Roesler also shares why it’s important for UAS experts to have continued outreach with the traditional aviation community.Happy listening!#subscribe #follow #aviation #womenwhodrone***SUPPORT***CASH APP: $PropsClearhttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/propsclearIf you have suggestions for topics or guests on Props Clear, email angelswings.jillian@gmail.com.For more information about host Jillian Angeline, visit www.4jillianangeline.com.*Disclaimer: The Props Clear podcast is for informational, educational and entertainment purposes only. Drones in schools: Drone Cadets is empowering the next generation at HART High School in Queens
Jillian Angeline gets out of the virtual studio and goes back to school.  She checks out Drone Cadets' work inspiring students to get involved in the drone industry.  Jillian visits HART High School in Queens for the STEM in the South program, shadowing Tony Reid and Mike Johnson.  Sgt. Tony Reid is Co-Founder of Drone Cadets, which integrates drone programs into schools.  Reid's work as a corrections officer with incarcerated teens for eight years at Rikers Island in New York City led him down this path.  He wanted to help students envision a bright future ahead with the drone industry as the north star. There are two parts to the twice-weekly after school drone certification program.  The first--classroom instruction where Mike Johnson with Drone Lecture helps students prepare for the FAA's Part 107 drone license test.  The second--interactive activities like building and flying drones and learning how to solder.Jillian also spoke with HART High School leadership, Principal Kayode Ayetiwa and Assistant Principal Anna Raghubir, about the importance of the program for students as they prepare for college and the workforce.   Ayetiwa and Raghubir said they're excited to implement a drone course directly into the curriculum for seniors this fall.  Students will study to attain their Part 107 license in the first part of the program, and focus on taking their knowledge to the workforce in the second.***SUPPORT***CASH APP: $PropsClearhttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/propsclearIf you have suggestions for topics or guests on Props Clear, email angelswings.jillian@gmail.com.For more information about host Jillian Angeline, visit www.4jillianangeline.com.*Disclaimer: The Props Clear podcast is for informational, educational and entertainment purposes only.
