It’s common for young people to feel disenfranchised and that their voices fall upon deaf ears. Less common, though, is founding a charity at 15 years of age to make societal change.

Saeed Atcha - the youngest recipient of an MBE in 2019, and the youngest ever Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester - founded Youth Leads UK which, since its inception, has supported over 7,000 young people with opportunities and skills development.

What does it take to be driven to achieve so much in such relative youth, and for an initially small project to make an impact on a national scale? Saeed shares his story with Lee Cooper on this week’s Extrology.

Lee and Saeed discuss:

  • Events that catalysed the foundation of his charity at just 15 years old
  • The strength that comes from empowering young people to initiate vital conversations
  • The challenges and frustrations that led Saeed to take action at such a young age
  • Saeed’s drive & determination to grow Youth Leads UK to influencing systemic changes
