Autism And Vulnerability To Abuse

Happy-Go-Lucky At Heart

04-12-2022 • 14 mins

In this week's episode, I celebrate World Disability Day and continues to raise awareness about violence against women and marginalised people as part of UN Women UK's #16daysofactivism campaign. I discuss how autistic traits and ADHD can make individuals more vulnerable to sexual abuse and provides tips on how to spot signs of abuse in children and take steps to prevent it.

I also talk about Erik Pettersson, an assistant professor of medical epidemiology and biostatistics at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, who led an investigation of 4,500 twins. I provide more information about this study and the insights it provides into the intersection of disability and violence against women. Click Here!

I also got some information about signs and preventions found here at: Autism Speaks

Overall, it was a informative and important episode, and we hope you'll tune in and join us for future episodes of "Happy-Go-Lucky At Heart."
