In this episode, we delve into the world of sim racing, where virtual meets reality. With the surge in popularity during COVID, sim racing has evolved from a recreational activity to a competitive eSports platform, attracting millions worldwide. One individual who has successfully transitioned from the virtual realm to real-life motorsport is Josh Muggleton.
Starting his journey in sim racing through platforms like iRacing and Gran Turismo, Josh's skills and determination led him to compete in the Australian Gran Turismo GT Academy finals, where he won the chance to compete for a factory GT3 drive for Nissan in the Blancpain GT World Challenge at the GT Academy World Finals. He was only on track to win the competition, only to narrowly miss out after finishing runner up. Undeterred by this setback, Josh ventured into production car racing, forming his own family team and becoming a regular contender in various championships, including the NSW Production Touring Car Championship and the World Time Attack Challenge.
As our story unfolds, we follow Josh's latest endeavor – preparing to conquer the Bathurst 6 Hour, a prestigious production car endurance race known as the 'Ultimate Showroom Showdown'. Joining forces with Chris Lillis and Nathan Callaghan to build a Chevrolet Camaro for the race, Josh showcases his unwavering passion for motorsport both on and off the track. Despite his family's strong ties to rugby and rugby league, Josh's dedication to racing shines through as he strives to leave his mark in the world of motorsport.
