Ep. 8 - A Most Historic Week for Modern Britain

Bite-Size Britain

13-09-2022 • 22 mins

The week commencing 5th September 2022 will go down as one of the most memorable - and historically significant - in recent British history. On the Monday, we found out who would be the next Prime Minister. On the Tuesday, both the outgoing and incoming PM's met with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to carry out the required formalities in this changing of the guard.

Liz Truss' appointment as political leader was overshadowed when a mere 2 days later, the Queen herself passed away, bringing to a close a truly historic 70-year reign as Britain's head-of-state.

Chris discusses his thoughts on these 7 days, some of the often-overlooked societal impacts will be, whilst also touching on just some of the world events that occurred during Queen Elizabeth's life on the throne.
