Best of 2023: What's It Like To Live With ADHD?
Diagnosed with ADHD as a child, Helena Hills, co-founder and CEO of TrueStart Coffee, is a self-described Neurodiversity champion who has been on a real journey of self-discovery - and now considers ADHD to be a key ingredient in driving TrueStart forward. It's only been in recent years that Helena has started to come to terms with - and accepted - her neurodiversity as a key strand of her identity. "I find emotions really hard to regulate; this is really common for people with ADHD," Helena shares openly on the #GoodJourneysPod. "I feel emotions deeply. I have this paralysing level of empathy for others and I find that quite often really overwhelming. I feel emotion physically through every bone in my body. I used to think, how are other people just going through life, hiding that pain so well? And the fact that they're not feeling it just explains everything!" #neurodiversity #adhd #neurodivergent #smallbusinessowner #truestartcoffee Watch the full interview with Helena: https://youtu.be/WbfpncLGtm0?si=REUMn5tWq02SSuwL Also available as a #podcast via Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts: www.secondmountaincomms.co.uk/podcast Produced for Second Mountain Comms by Loretz Visuals. ******************************************************************* 'Good Journeys with Second Mountain' is brought to you in partnership with our friends at Resilient Leaders Elements: https://tinyurl.com/2edzmvfe Leadership begins with about resilience - and Resilient Leaders Elements (RLE) are focused on making world class leadership development available to all, training people worldwide to build the skillsets needed to become resilient leaders.  RLE’s highly respected Resilient Leaders Development Programme is a bespoke development tool that’s perfect for leaders of all levels - and you can sign up now. 'The Dynamite Kid' Tom Billington is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers to come out of the United Kingdom - a trailblazing athlete whose high-flying, high-intensity grappling style paved the way for future generations of wrestling superstars. #wwe #wrestlinghistory #britishbulldogs #wwf #dynamitekid #tigermask A WWF superstar and tag team champion alongside Davey Boy Smith, multiple time All Japan Pro Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling champion, and Wrestling Observer Hall of Famer, The Dynamite Kid had a hugely successful career - but his days in the squared circle were prematurely cut short due to injury, forcing Billington to retire in 1991. He would move back to the UK shortly after hanging up the boots, and remain in England until passing away in 2018 on his 60th birthday. Bronwyne Billington, daughter of The Dynamite Kid, joins the 'Good Journeys with Second Mountain' podcast and YouTube show with Ben Veal to share her memories of her father - both exploring the influence he had on so many within the sport, but also his influence as a father. Candid, open and honest, Bronwyne talks about the challenges of growing up without her father's constant presence, her dad leaving when she was aged just six, reconnecting with her father during her teenage years, and the pair rekindling their relationship and love for one another during his final years. This very special episode of the 'Good Journeys with Second Mountain' podcast is dedicated to the memory of Andrew Veal, father of show host Ben Veal, who passed away suddenly aged 72, shortly after this conversation was recorded. Stevie Richards' personal journey and incredible road to recovery is the very definition of an inspiring story: a tale of unexpected setback, personal resilience, faith and family. Michael 'Stevie Richards' Manna is a 30-year veteran of professional wrestling who has competed for the world’s biggest companies including WWE, WCW, Ring of Honour and for iconic, beloved Philadelphia-based promotion Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). Achieving many highs in his wrestling career - portraying a host iconic characters including being part of the Blue World Order and Right To Censor groups - but also suffering multiple injuries, the most severe of which was a broken neck, Stevie has drawn heavily on his love and passion for personal fitness and found his purpose in life in helping others along their wellbeing journeys, launching his business Stevie Richards Fitness and now also fronting his podcast series, The Big Fitness Show. Earlier this year, Stevie’s life was put in very real danger as he suffered a very serious spinal infection - and his comeback ever since has been nothing short of incredible to follow. In this episode, Stevie shares his recollections of his journey, how he found light amidst the darkness, and the role that his Christian faith and wife has played in his recovery. He also reflects back on memories of his ECW and WWF/E wrestling days, and his enduring love of cats!
