All throughout the Scripture, presence is a priority. God’s presence makes the difference.
His presence is what sets us apart and presence should be our priority. We should live in a way that invites it. We should honor it, respect it, protect it, pursue it, crave it and long for it.
AW Tozer, a pastor and writer from a previous generation, wrote a prayer that I have personalized in my own life. It says:
“O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need for further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, so that I may know Thee indeed.”
This prayer captures the words of a heart with a deep yearning for God’s presence.
