Marko Ukota is leading an ambitious project: develop, build, and fit an electric motorcycle in the dirt bike market.
Dubbed Primo, the Slovenian project aims to offer enticing attributes: 85 HP, a quickly swappable 7 kWh battery pack, and even a virtual clutch. That is a software solution providing the mechanical clutch feeling without the maintenance and other disadvantages intrinsic to the physical component.
Ukota and Flux still have a long road ahead. The plan is to deliver the first bikes in 2025. Recently, they reached a milestone in presenting the working prototype.
I talked with Ukota to learn about Flux’s origins, progress, and how the startup will beat the odds to make a dent in the dirt bike industry. Another episode to deliver Zev.News Moto - Podcast’s mission:
To explain the undergoing transformation in the motorcycle industry through interviews with leaders and minds that are making that happen.
