Good Morning Nashville! ☀️ Bringing to you guys more content, more “venting”, and more conversation surrounding mental health … guys if this is your first time with us, we welcome you to the Black Men Vent Too Podcast. A podcast that aims to change the narrative behind black men, one episode at a time by creating a space that makes uncomfortable conversations, comfortable amongst men. We thank you for listening in, leave a review and let us know what you think 🙏🏽 TODAY’S GUEST NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION ⭐️ Today’s guest is a VERY familiar name in Nashville. One that you may have seen on voting ballots, political forums, or maybe even on a flyer as a DJ 🎶 for an event. A husband, father, and the MAYOR OF NASHVILLE! GUYS WE PROUD-FULLY WELCOME OUR GOOD FRIEND AND BROTHER, THE MAN WITH THE KEY TO THE CITY, MR. FREDDIE O’CONNELL 🔥 As a mental health platform … we did not utilize our time with the mayor, to talk about “mayor stuff”. We know that he gets enough of that everyday from various sources, so what BMVT wanted to do is sit the mayor down, allow him to unwind, and just genuinely ask … “How are you today?” Mayor O’Connell comes to the vent table and talks about family values, his own mental health, his love for music, and teaches us about active programs that have been implemented to help police when faced with a mental health crisis. He vented about Nashville in 2020: the tornado, COVID, George Floyd incident and its impact, and then the Christmas Day bombing. Mayor O’Connell then broke down the understanding between “toxic positivity” versus “constant negativity” and how to navigate in those spaces. This episode was GREAT, we hope you enjoy listening to the mayor of Nashville vent on our platform ‼️ “Have You Heard A Black Man Vent Today?”™️ #BMVT You may have heard at the beginning of our episode that historically one of the hottest rappers out of Atlanta, gave BMVT a shoutout and some love. He speaks highly on his parents and his brother, and just how that dynamic has made him into the man that he is today. Tavis comes to the show to vent about how there is a “lack of encouragement” from black man to black man. We talked about how encouraging one another can be hard, though, when dealing with your own issues and not being able to be there for others . Patience is a virtue, and often times it takes patience with yourself and others when you are exercising encouragement towards one another. Good Morning Nashville! ☀️ We are wrapping up this month of March, and dedicated the month to opening up our platform for black Pastors to come and vent. “Mental Health In Black Pastors” has been a very rewarding season, we hope that you guys have enjoyed the content and as always, stay tuned for more topic-specific seasons throughout the year from BMVT! ✌🏽 Let’s get into today’s episode! If you’re in the Lebanon/Wilson county area, then surely you have seen the “JustFish” food truck at least once. You can smell the catfish nuggets and those homemade white beans all the way down I-40! We’re excited to bring Pastor Corey Osborne to the BMVT Podcast 🔥 Our episode with Pastor Osborne truly details why we decided to create this season for black pastors. He vents about a numerous amount of things, one being how he always knew he was a leader, but just never had that male role model in his life to navigate him into positive leadership positions. He gave his life to God within the CDC jail walls, accepted his calling to preach at 19 years old, and even while incarcerated he was seeking God through church programs provided there that led him to where he is at today. “If you wanna see the hands of God, you got to move your feet.” - Pastor Corey Osborne 📍 A family man, business owner, husband, and of course a Pastor … take some time to listen to a black man vent today! ✌🏽 “Have You Heard A Black Man Vent Today?”™️ #BMVT If you are needing catfish filets, catfish nuggets, hell catfish ANYTHING! Good Morning Nashville ☀️ We are sure you guys weren’t expecting this. As we prepare for Easter Weekend, we decided that one episode this week wasn’t enough. With that … we have decided to drop TWO EPISODES IN ONE DAY as we wrap up our “Mental Health In Black Pastors” Season this month 😎 Two episodes? One day? We are the Black Men Vent Too Podcast ✌🏽 Today’s guest brings us so much excitement on today. Our final episode for this season, we have none other than the great Pastor of the One City Church, being Pastor Hollis J. Thomas 🔥 Divine intervention brought us together for today’s episode, as we take the time to dissect how he deals with mental health. 🙏🏽 “If serving is beneath you, leadership is beyond you.” Pastor Thomas embraces his pastoral leadership role by always making sure to humble himself to service first. He prides himself on having a church that has a culture to serve. He comes to vent with us about “wrestling with emotions” & admits he made a lot of mistakes by allowing his emotions to drive him. Emotions are “indicators” and not “dictators”, and eludes to that by stating that where we want to go ultimately, has a lot to do with how we handle our emotions currently. Good Morning Nashville! ☀️ Back at it again guys, new week new episode. We’re getting back into the March season we deemed to be labeled “Mental Health In Black Pastors”. Again, what we want to do with our platform this month is bridge the gap between pastors and mental health, by giving them time away from the pulpit to discuss how they deal with mental health issues in there respective position 🙏🏽 Let’s get into it! Today’s Pastor surely is no stranger to the microphone, as he and his twin brother have been touring all over the country . You’ve seen them on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show, BET, and more! We are super excited to bring to today’s vent table none other than Pastor Dr. Jerry Marable, the great Pastor of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church (228) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee ‼️ Pastor Marable, if you know anything about him and his story, is truly a walking miracle. He vents with us today on how God has really made his life a living testimony. Nashville, this is a young man who was on a hospital bed stricken with sickness for 7 STRAIGHT MONTHS. “Mental Health In Black Pastors” With Pastor Dr. James A. Hambrick ✌🏽
Good Morning Nashville! ☀️ 🚨 NEW SEASON ALERT 🚨 To our supporters and listeners, we pray that all is well and want to thank you for coming back for a new week of content. To our NEW listeners, we simply want to say hello and we hope you enjoy listening to the ONLY black father and son podcast in Tennessee. Let’s lock in! 🔒 March we will be dedicating the whole month to a season topic titled “Mental Health In Black Pastors”. There are so many emotions, transitions, and adjustments mentally that come with being a leader of people. And what we want to do with our platform this month is bridge the gap between pastors and mental health, by giving them time away from the pulpit to discuss how they deal with mental health issues in there respective position 🙏🏽 With that … the first guest that we bring on the show is a man of many hats. Father, Husband, Author, Singer/Songwriter, former Police Chief, a Navy man, Counselor, and of course a Pastor. Dr. James A. Hambrick joins the BMVT platform! ✌🏽 Dr. Hambrick is the proud Pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, Tennessee. He comes to vent on our platform about a few things, but one thing he touches on is our community having more of a spiritual discernment. Being able to allow God to dictate your direction in life, and you not dictate your own, but also having peace of mind in sound judgments and decision-making. Do you know the difference between temperament versus personality? The counselor side of Dr. Hambrick breaks that down to us on the episode as well, teaching us how if you’re able to understand a persons temperament, you can learn the “why” behind what they do. Guys, this episode is LOADED, you don’t want to miss hearing the story behind Dr. Hambrick and how he deals with mental health as a Pastor. Tap in! 🔥 “Have You Heard A Black Man Vent Today?”™️ #BMVT To our regular listeners, stay locked in with us all throughout the month of March. Nobody ever really gives Pastors a chance to speak on things other than religion, and we want to change that by bringing Pastors this month from all over the city to vent on our platform.
