Today's guest, Roberta Lipp, is the cohost and producer of the widely successful "They Coined It, A Mad Men" podcast. Roberta has always been passionate about creating content and talking about the things she loves. After dropping so many ideas, she began writing the blog on the famous American television show Mad Men; it became a widely successful blog about the show at that time. Her journey doesn't end there. After a successful blog, she evolved it into a podcast, which has become equally successful. They spoke to the actors and creators of the show. They had fans involved. They got an opportunity to go on the show set and even got invited to do a book tour after co-authoring a book about Mad Men. When Roberta started her journey, she didn't have any fancy plans. She just had a strong why; she knew what she wanted to discuss and create. It all began when she would watch an episode, call her sister and then re-watch the VHS of the same episode and call her sister, and the cycle continued. She revealed that they don't make significant revenue from the podcast, but they enjoy the process and all opportunities it comes along with. She has shared so much wisdom from her journey. We discuss how to structure a podcast episode carefully, and she is very particular about it. We talk about engagement strategies to grow your audience. We discuss whether Patreon is extra stress on your podcast and how passion is a content creator's superpower. There are so many stories and ideas in this episode, I am sure you will love it. Listen to this episode on your favourite podcasting platform, and if you enjoy it, give us a review on Podchaser; please click https://www.podchaser.com/TheKultCreatorExperience. It can really help others discover the Podcast. Here are some quick highlights from this episode:[03:05] -Roberta Lipp's introduction and the inspiration behind her Mad Men fan podcast[06:32]-How does she measure success for her podcast when she doesn't have thousands of followers or big money?[07:42]-Why she chose Mad Men Show for creating content?[13:54]- How does she structure her podcast to make it more engaging?[17:52]- Roberta almost stopped her podcast after finding out a sad news[20:26]- Let's see Roberta Lipp's production process for the podcast[25: 26] - Discussing how much time should be devoted to audio editing[28:30] Promoting your podcast through Twitter, Instagram, and Tik Tok[31:49]-Does having a Patreon make sense, or is it all stress?[37:27]- Roberta shared how she brought the show's cast to podcasts.[48:05]-What advice would you give a new content creator[50:41]- My final question is, what do you think makes a good leader?GUEST BIORoberta Lipp (she/her) is the co-host and producer of "They Coined It, a Mad Men Podcast." She began doing audiobooks and turn, met a fantastic author, and together they collaborated to create an audio drama podcast -"The Untold Tales", a sci-fi short story podcastIn this episode, she shared how she uses her podcast to share her talent as a voice actor and other creative storytellers' stories. Podcasting has given her a space to show her creativity and not bound by any agency or person to dictate what she should instead be doing. She puts so much effort into her podcast by choosing a great story, hiring a coach to help her play characters' accents, and selecting songs that go well with the story. Why should our kids be the ones that do it? It's our responsibility.GUEST BIO Hello! My name is Melissa Del Toro Schaffner. How To Create A #1 Charting Academic Podcast - Mikko Heiskala
You may not know that podcast is not only a great marketing tool, but it can also play a significant role in academic learning. As our guest on this episode, Mikko Heiskala, a PhD student and university lecturer from Finland, has proved this. Mikko's initial idea was to build it as a learning tool for his students. But while sharing his podcast learning experiences with his wife Nina, she suggested that since there weren’t any evidence-based psychology podcasts, they should start one together. This saw the launch of their show Psykopodiaa. It now has 1.2 million streams and averages 13,000 downloads per episode; just to give that some context, there are 5.5 million people in Finland, and this is a Finnish spoken language podcast. In addition to number metrics, their podcast is recommended by university lecturers to students, and doctors also suggest listening to it for their patents. They have gained deep professional trust through their podcast, which has led to a number of speaking opportunities. In this episode, he discusses how focusing on the subject matter, adjusting the podcast duration to the listener, and respecting knowledge helped him succeed in the content creation journey. Tune into the episode to find out Mikko's success secret.Listen to this episode on your favourite podcasting platform, and if you enjoy it, give us a review on Podchaser; please click https://www.podchaser.com/TheKultCreatorExperience.  It can really help others discover the Podcast. Here are some quick highlights from this episode:[01:09]-Short intro of our guest Mikko Heiskala[03:09]-Mikko’s journey of starting a podcast [06:45] -How to find an audience for your podcast and what topics to cover[8:28]-Finding podcast guests consistently when you just started[09:16]-The reason Mikko's focused on question-answer podcasts[10:27]-How long your podcast episode should be?[12:31]-Mikko’s determinant of success for his podcast[14:39]- A look into Mikko’s pre-production process[20:38]- A discussion about the content editing process[26:47]- Is it possible to grow a podcast without a large social media following?[30:14] -The opportunity Mikko and his wife benefited from podcasting[39:32]- Mikko's advice for new content creators[41:16]- What is Mikko's definition of a good leader?KEY INSIGHTSThe best advice for new content creators is to get started, especially with content that you're personally interested in. A good leader serves the people he or she leads. Give them goals, provide them with tools and resources to accomplish them, and get out of their way. They should be supported and pushed, not micromanaged. A great leader ensures that the environment they are working in is psychologically safe and everybody can make mistakes.GUEST BIO Mikko Heiskala is a PhD student and university lecturer from Finland. Mikko's original idea was to use podcasting as a learning tool for his students, and he went on to do a short course in podcast production. At this point, his wife, a psychologist, suggested why don't we create a podcast about psychology. She found that the current psychology content out there wasn't great. And it didn't discuss evidence-based knowledge. So on April fool's day, 2019, Psykopodiaa was launched. It was very successful, had 1.2 million streams, and averaged 13,000 downloads per episode. Now, just to give that some context, there are 5.5 million people in Finland, and this is a Finnish spoken language podcast Check out these Resources and Items...

Do you love this topic enough that even on your worst day, you can still talk about it and love it? I believe audio has an extraordinary power that is often overlooked. How To Build Relationships Through Podcasts - Chris Ducker
The average view time of a YouTube video is only six or seven minutes max, and then when you look at podcasts, the average listening time is about 30 minutes. So the connection that you made with your podcast listener rather than your YouTube viewer in my eyes is much, much greater, says Chris Ducker, our new entrepreneur guest of this week's Podcast.Chris Ducker is a serial entrepreneur, best-selling author, and an international businessman, and he has been creating content for his business since 2010. He produced four podcast series with another one on the way, and his most recent series Youpreneur has over 8 million downloads and 450 episodes in total. In total, he's probably produced over a thousand podcast episodes, and that doesn't include his guest appearances. He helps entrepreneurs build their personal brand and know the power podcast content. He further adds that podcasts can form and grow a relationship that, for me, is a much shorter sales process since they're spending so much more time with you in the eardrum, so to speak, they've already made that commitment almost. Although Chris runs three internationally successful companies, he is a father and husband and has many hobbies; he still finds time to engage with his listeners personally. Chris noted that people start a show and obsess over their download numbers, just a little bit too much, and they don't mean anything unless you're getting engagement from your listeners or viewers. In this episode, Chris tells us how he uses podcasts to create relationships that help his business grow. Check out this episode if you are considering creating a podcast but aren't sure how it can benefit your business.Listen to this episode on your favorite podcasting platform, and if you enjoy it,  give us a review on Podchaser, please click https://www.podchaser.com/TheKultCreatorExperience. It can really help others discover the podcast. Here are some quick highlights from this episode: [02:27]-Getting started in podcasting[05:29]-How to find your target market while starting?[07:56]How to build genuine relationships through podcasts[09:54]- What are the best formats and styles of the podcast for marketing coaching programs and services?[14:07]- Determinants for podcasting success - knowing if someone is in the bath :)[16:28]-Process of creating a podcast from idea to air basically[20:40] -How did Chris Ducker sell more than 9000 copies in the first two weeks of launching his brand new book by just publishing 25 episodes?[23:56]-When to pivot or stop a podcast?[25:25]-Why, where and how to engage your audience?[31::41]-Understanding the limitations of your knowledge[34:50]-The one tip to stay consistent and accountable for your contentKEY INSIGHT-The good podcast Interviewer listens twice as much as they talk. You've to be true to yourself, what you're all about and how you come across to your people.Stay away from stuff that you don't know enough about as well. Just because you start a show doesn't mean it has to last forever.A good leader continues to learn, and he has to continue to learn in order to continue to lead. If you're not consistent and your people aren't expecting that

In this episode of the KULT Kreator Experience, This is episode 10 and will be the final of this series. It’s been a lot of fun to be on the other side of the glass as they say. I’ve been producing podcasts for 5 years and audio content in general of over 15. I have always been so hesitant to be in front of the mic, worried I wouldn’t be comfortable or sound like a complete fool. I probably still sound like a fool, but it's been really enjoyable producing a show for myself. I might do a bonus episode about some of the lessons I have learnt finally producing my own show in the next few months. But first I have a few tests to do with the podcast to see if I can grow it a little bit more before series 2 kicks off. You might be wondering why are you not pushing the podcast more as it goes live? Well, I have been promoting the show via my social media pipes but the plan for this first series was to produce it as a resource to support KULT Media as we grow the business. I wanted a free resource that can help people learn about podcasting and understand the steps to successful content creation. The power of series one will be as a reference and long term content. Allowing me to provide assistance to clients that might not be in the position to hire me but I can still help them launch & grow their podcasts. BUT enough about me and the marketing of my podcast let’s help you get your podcast out there into the wilderness and get it growing as fast as possible.Today we wrap up the last step of my KKE, collaboration. We will be discussing growing your podcast from zero, effective use of social media, engagement strategy, advertising and gaining that all-important credibility and social proof. Now I am definitely going to admit I am not a marketing expert. I am not going to be talking about split testing, intense ad purchasing and analysis of marketing data. I am going to be sharing the organic, hands-on & more personal approach that allows you to get visibility for your show but fundamentally it is based on your engagement with your audience for success to occur. It just means there will be minimal marketing jargon … cos I don't think the average podcaster needs it. If this sounds like a journey you’d like to be part of, please follow us on Instagram @kult.media and on your podcasting app of choice. In this episode, we discuss:Low Hanging Fruit - How to grow your audience from zeroHow to use social media to promote your podcastSimple Audience Engagement StrategyPaid Ads for PodcastsHow To Utilise Social ProofTechnology and Future TechFollow our Podcast@kult.mediaExplore these Resources or Items Mentioned in the ShowIn this episode, we mentioned the following resources:Podchaser.comApple Podcasts New & NoteworthyFacebookTiktokCanvaFacebook ads

Publish: Where Are You Distributing Your Podcast?
In this episode of the KULT Kreator Experience, we begin the final step of the KKE and we start by looking at how we publish our content. Publishing your content is relatively easy. We take our finished asset, be it video or audio and we host it on a server. We then share the location of the content with our audience for them to follow and consume. BUT of course, there is a bit more to it than that. I am going to walk through the process of publishing content and point out some of the key points and optimisations we can make.We will be chatting about metadata, the podcast apps like Apple and Spotify, the infrastructure of distribution, how your listeners can access your content, and the wonder of scheduling. If this sounds like a journey you’d like to be part of, please follow us on Instagram @kult.media and on your podcasting app of choice. In this episode, we discuss:Meta DataPodcasting Distribution Podcast ConsumptionChoosing A Podcast Hosting PlatformScheduling Your PodcastFollow our Podcast@kult.mediaExplore these Resources or Items Mentioned in the ShowIn this episode, we mentioned the following resources:MetadataYouTubeVimeoRSSApple PodcastsSpotifyAnchor Podcast HostOvercastAmazon PodcastsGoogle PodcastsGoogle AnalyticsFacebook PixelCapitvate.fm I’d like to thank you for listening and being part of the KULT Kreator Experience. I am always happy to get feedback and if you have any questions or topics you’d like me to discuss, please reach out to me.If you want to start your own KULT Kreator Experience and become a KULT Leader in your industry; head to www.kult.media to get your free strategy session.Until next time, Be good! This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrpChartable - https://chartable.com/privacyPodcorn - https://podcorn.com/privacy

Post Production Strategy: How & Why To Edit Your Podcast
In this episode of the KULT Kreator Experience, we come up against one of the most disliked subjects in podcasting and content creation, Post Production.  Post Production can become a huge time sap and stress for lots of people, and because of that, it is one of the most outsourced tasks. But do we even need post-production? I’ve spent over 15 years working in post-production. I can say it’s been an eye-opening experience. Working in the final stages of production reveals all of the minor issues that have now become major mistakes, the variation in quality vs budget vs planning and the possibilities to add something special to incredible content. And in this episode, I will seek to answer the question of “do we need to edit or have post-production?”After all, I’ve spent 7 episodes telling you how planning as best as possible will reduce the need for fixes later in the process. But I do believe editing and post-production can level up your content. If this sounds like a journey you’d like to be part of, please follow us on Instagram @kult.media and on your podcasting app of choice. In this episode, we discuss:My Editing FundamentalsEnhance NOT Fix MantraPodcasting Promise and Post ProductionUser ExperienceEthical EditingHow To Engage, Educate, Entertain Storytelling With SoundOverediting Marketing Implications For Post ProductionRepurposing Strategy Follow our Podcast@kult.mediaExplore these Resources or Items Mentioned in the ShowIn this episode, we mentioned the following resources:Epidemic Sound for MusicAudiio for MusicI’d like to thank you for listening and being part of the KULT Kreator Experience. I am always happy to get feedback and if you have any questions or topics you’d like me to discuss, please reach out to me.If you want to start your own KULT Kreator Experience and become a KULT Leader in your industry; head to www.kult.media to get your free strategy session.Until next time, Be good!
