Our Editor's Take

Spilled Milk is a podcast about the love of food. The hosts are food fanatics Molly Wizenberg and Matthew Amster-Burton. They started the series to share their random and hilarious conversations about food. In each episode, they cook something, eat it, and discuss it. Listeners can expect fun food facts, mealtime nostalgia, and humor throughout.

Host Molly is a writer and comedian fascinated with exploring life through food. She started by writing about home cooking and co-founded a restaurant in her early years. Her fellow podcast host Matthew is also a comedian and food writer. He has written YA and nonfiction books including the bestseller Pretty Good Number One: An American Family Eats Japan. Joining Molly and Matthew as a producer on the podcast is Abby Cerquitella.

Each Spilled Milk episode discusses a different food, such as pizza rolls. Molly starts this episode by defining the pizza roll. She admits to never having had one herself. Matthew discusses the need to eat them until he couldn't stop. They were his childhood snack of choice. Molly tells the story of how pizza rolls were created to add Italian seasoning to a classic bread roll. It was that simple.

From corn snacks to focaccia, each topic is random and always entertaining. Yet not all episodes are about food. One explores the topic of champagne in celebration of their 600th episode. Molly and Matthew discuss the history of this popular drink as they enjoy consuming a glass or two. In another episode, Matthew shares his favorite Tokyo finds from a trip to Japan.

Special guests join throughout the series to share their love and knowledge of food. Comedian Jamie Loftus discusses her recent book about hot dogs. Fellow podcast host and comedian Ivy Le joins Spilled Milk. Ivy shares her bizarre experiments with edibles.

Spilled Milk is entertaining, informative, and hilarious. Podcast episodes discuss many random types of food, from sandwich bread to tangerines. This podcast offers a playlist of great ideas for listeners needing inspiration in the kitchen.
