Mark Palmer

Mark Palmer
In this episode, we cover the unusual case of Mark Palmer, a construction worker from Bedfordshire, who vanished in 2019 whilst working overseas in the town of Ontinyent, Spain. Mark was last seen by his colleagues at 10:30am on the morning of April 27th, a Saturday. Mark had a history of going AWOL for up to 24 hours at a time, so when he failed to return on Sunday, they weren’t immediately concerned. By the time Monday rolled round, there was still no sign of him, so they called the police. This episode hears from Mark’s sister Claire, who explains her brother’s long history of mental health issues and how they may have played a factor in his disappearance. She talks about travelling to Spain with her husband and the rest of Mark’s family and how within a matter of hours she went from studying for a PHD, to coordinating a sprawling search effort with dozens of volunteers. For more information on this case, and every episode from every series visit https://themissingpodcast.orgAnd to visit details of the most recent appeals - like the one you may have heard in this episode, please visit : https://missingpeople.org.uk/recent If you or anyone you know is struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, you can find some useful information here: https://www.talktofrank.com/get-help/what-is-drug-and-alcohol-treatment-like If you want to listen to The Missing COMPLETELY ad-free, and help to support the show, then please subscribe to our channel. The Missing + is your home for the very best in true-crime podcasts. SEASON 8
The Missing is back and the first two episodes of our new season will be released on Wednesday the 4th of December. The Missing released its first episode in December 2020. In the four years since, we’ve covered more than seventy missing person cases, across the UK and Ireland. In the course of our work, we’ve spoken to hundreds of parents, spouses, sons, daughters and friends, whose brave and unvarnished testimonies have shone a light on a grim phenomenon that more often than not, is underreported in our communities. Their stories have taken us everywhere from the controlled chaos of London’s busiest boroughs, to the quiet and lonely peaks of the Scottish highlands…We’ve been brought along on voyages of discovery in the Canadian wilderness, navigated the Caribbean by catamaran and even undertaken pilgrimages to the holiest sites of mainland Europe. All of this is to say, that of the 170,000 people who vanish in the United Kingdom every year, no two missing person cases are the same. So join us for the final series of The Missing UK - in its current form - as we highlight seven missing person cases that need your help and revisit some of the most impactful stories we’ve covered since the show first began. The vast majority of missing people are found within 48 hours of their disappearance but some go on to become what’s described as the long term missing. This podcast, made in collaboration with the charities Missing People and Locate international, is about them.If you want to listen to The Missing COMPLETELY ad-free, and help to support the show, then please subscribe to our channel. The Missing + is your home for the very best in true-crime podcasts. Phoenix Coldon - USA
In this episode we explore the strange disappearance of Phoenix Coldon, a 23 year old woman who was last seen driving away from her family home in Spanish Lake, Missouri, on a cold December afternoon, over a decade ago. Her whole life, Phoenix had been a model student as well as a talented musician and a decorated athlete to boot. She was raised by her loving parents Goldia and Lawrence, who sounded the alarm when Phoenix failed to return home without informing them of her plans, something very out of character for her. Phoenix’s vehicle was discovered mere hours after her disappearance, found abandoned at an intersection in East St Louis. No one has seen her ever since. As the investigation unfolded and police began speaking to Phoenix’s friends and family, it emerged that her personal life had been pretty turbulent in the months leading up to December 18th, 2011, the day she was last seen. Revelations about her romantic life and more importantly, her parentage, triggered some difficult conversations and left her in a vulnerable state. This episode hears from Claudia, Phoenix’s half-sister. She and Phoenix went their whole lives unaware of each other’s existence. In fact it wasn’t until a detective reached out to Claudia asking if she’d heard from Phoenix, that she learned she had a sister in the first place. Claudia walks us through the emotional whiplash of learning you have a sibling you never knew about, only to find out seconds later that they’re missing and explains how reading up on Phoenix’s case and doing some digging of her own, led her down a rabbit hole of discovery and intrigue, whose mysteries puzzle her to this day. This episode is supported by Doe Network. Shelton Sanders - USA
In this episode we visit the city of Columbia, South Carolina where, on the night of June 19th, 2001, twenty-five year old college student Shelton Sanders vanished without a trace. Shelton spent the hours leading up to his disappearance driving around the city, accompanied by a friend, scoping out hotels for a bachelor party he was planning. Shortly after dropping his friend off at their home, three loud bangs were heard. Most contend these were gunshots, others say they were simply the sound of a car backfiring. Either way, Shelton was never seen nor heard from again. This episode hears from Shelton’s sister Wilveria, who for over five years now, has dedicated her life to getting justice for her missing brother. She walks us through the events leading up to Shelton’s disappearance, explains how the trial of the lead suspect in this case collapsed and walks us through what she’s doing to keep her brother’s story in the public eye. This episode is supported by Doe Network. Barbara McCray - USA
In this episode we bring you the unsolved mystery of missing Barbara McCray, an 83 year old former restaurateur, who vanished without a trace from her home on Dugdown Rd, in Georgia’s rural northwest. Barbara had recently been diagnosed with dementia and whilst it had begun to affect her memory and ability to get around unaided, she was still fiercely independent. She loved her daily walk on Dugdown Rd, a part of her routine that she kept up right until the day she disappeared.  This episode hears from Barbara’s granddaughter Amy as well as her great niece Mary. Amy and Mary are cousins and have been united in their efforts to find Barabra for over three years now. They talk about the pillar of the local community their grandmother was and remains to this day and their memories of the restaurant she ran for years that served its loyal patrons the best home cooked Southern eating money could buy. Together, Amy and Mary bring us through the events leading up to Barabara’s disappearance, their frustrations with the inexperienced and under-resourced Polk County PD and why they personally don’t believe Barabara’s dementia had anything to do with her disappearance. This episode is supported by Doe Network. Tammy Pitkin - USA
In this episode we tell the baffling story of the disappearance of Tammy Pitkin, whose car was found abandoned on a dead end forest service road in Sweet Home, Oregon, almost 400 miles from her home in Red Bluff California. Tammy had recently separated from her husband but was looking forward to the imminent birth of her first grandchild as well as her son’s wedding. She had taken a road trip, starting on October 14th, but told her son she would be home in a few days at the most. Tammy brought her two dogs with her, one of which was found almost four months later in the woods near where her car was discovered, emaciated but alive. This episode hears from Tammy’s sister Airaka. She and Tammy were very close growing up but at the time of her disappearance, hadn’t spoken for more than six years, the result of a family feud that caused them to cease all contact with one another. Airaka walks us through how she first came to learn of her sister’s disappearance, how any bad blood between them ceased to matter the moment her sister needed her and Airaka’s theories about what prompted Tammy’s unusual road trip. This episode is supported by Doe Network. Gabriel Scott Johnson - USA
In this episode we explore the enduring mystery of missing infant Gabriel Scott Johnson, whose fate has been unknown ever since he was kidnapped from his home in Tempe, Arizona in December 2009. Gabriel was abducted by his mother Elizabeth without his father Logan’s knowledge. Elizabeth’s alleged intention was to bring baby Gabriel to San Antonio, Texas, where, thanks to a loophole in state law, black market adoptions had become increasingly commonplace. Gabriel’s kidnapping made international news and sparked a manhunt spearheaded by the FBI. This episode hears from Gabriel’s great aunt Sandy. Following the untimely death of her sister, Sandy grew very close with her nephew Logan, so when Gabriel disappeared, she felt like it was her duty to do everything she possibly could to help. She brings us back to that fateful December day almost fifteen years ago, one that changed her family's lives forever and shares her thoughts about Elizabeth’s motivations and what she believes ultimately became of baby Gabriel. This episode is supported by Doe Network. Kimberley Sue Doss - USA
In this episode we bring you the strange story of Kimberly Sue Doss, who, at the age of 14, vanished whilst travelling home to her mother in Houston, Texas. Her disappearance is a mystery that has plagued her loved ones for over forty years. Kimberly’s parents were separated and she split her time between Texas and Iowa. Uprooting her life several times a year was putting a strain on her relationships so, one day in February, 1980, she ran away from home. Kimberly said she was getting a ride to school but instead, she took a bus to Davenport, where her father resided. In all truth, she preferred living in Houston but her closest friends, as well as her boyfriend, were in the Hawkeye State. Before long however, Kimberly grew tired of life as a runaway and contacted her mother, telling her she was coming back. The last time anyone heard from her, was a phone call explaining that she had met a girl named Kathy on the bus and would be staying with her during her stopover in Chicago. Kimberly never made it home. This episode hears from Kimberly’s sister Schelly, who explains the devastating impact her younger sibling’s absence has had on her family. David Allen Clark - USA
In this episode we cover the tragic story of David Allen Clark, a 38 year old father of three whose car was found abandoned on the side of the road in Ocklawaha Florida in March 2023. No-one has seen or heard from him since. David had two great loves in his life, his family and the great outdoors. When he wasn’t doting on his kids, or talking literature with his mother, he could usually be found hiking his way through the trees and trails of Ocala National Forest. David would regularly embark on multi-day trips to Ocala, which explains why when he went missing, no-one was overly concerned at first. However, after several days without contact, they began to sense something was amiss. David was a very experienced hiker, one who knew the forest like the back of his hand. Other than a broken leg or a bear attack, his loved ones couldn’t imagine any scenario that would prevent him from returning home. When his vehicle was discovered, weeks after his disappearance, on a road running through the middle of Ocala, with its windows broken and its engine disabled, it created more questions than answers. This episode hears from David’s mother Gina. For the past year, she has spearheaded the search effort for her son, liaising with the authorities and coordinating volunteers. She talks about the days and weeks leading up to David’s disappearance, her theories about how his car came to its final resting place and why the forest is far, far more dangerous than it might first appear.  This episode is supported by Doe Network.
