The U.S. State Department reacts to CNN's article implicating Ariel Henry in the assassination of Jovenel Moise
The U.S. State Department reacts on the article of CNN pinning the Prime Minister Ariel Henry in the assassination of former President Jovenel Moise. The U.S. Department of State calls for an independent investigation to shed light on the murder of the former Haitian head of state. This investigation should be conducted "in accordance with Haitian law and international standards of rule of law," according to a State Department spokesperson responding to a ZoomHaitiNews writer. The U.S. government is determined to help bring the investigation to a successful conclusion. "We want those who planned, financed and executed the assassination of President Moïse to be held accountable. The Haitian people need to see a transparent process and a resolution of this investigation to demonstrate that the perpetrators of such heinous crimes cannot escape justice," said the spokesman in a responsive note sent to ZoomHaitiNews. The American official took the opportunity to reiterate the support of his country to the Haitian authorities in this investigation. He also applauded the arrest of several suspects including Colombian Mario Palacios, Rodolphe Jaar and former Senator John Joel Joseph. Asked to comment directly on the Cable News Network (CNN) article, the spokesperson referred us to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Haitian government who are better able to provide more details about its ongoing investigation into the assassination of President Moïse," said the spokesperson, who urged "all parties to follow due process in accordance with the Haitian rule of law. In an article published on Tuesday, the CNN media network published a recording of investigating judge Gary Orélien confirming the involvement of Prime Minister Ariel Henry in the planning of the assassination of Jovenel Moise.
