#91 | Tim Hade, Co-Founder, Scale Microgrids
For this episode Ryan Maughan speaks to Tim Hade who is the Co-Founder & Chief Development Officer at Scale Microgrids.Scale Microgrids are a developer of Microgrids, they design and install large scale solar, battery storage and power management systems to create local renewable energy based systems for corporate clients.Following a career in the US Air Force, and launching and then exiting a cleantech business, Tim came to start Scale Microgrids through a combination of his desire to help people acheive energy security and reduce their impact on the environment and it has been going from strength to strength working with companies to design and build microgrids that help them reduce their dependency on the main power grid, generate their own power and save CO2. The potential for a more distributed energy system to help reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and improve energy security really is a passion of Tim's and this came across in our discussion. He is also thinking about future concepts like being able to deploy distributed resources as virtual power plants and what happens to the centralised infrastructure when more microgrid systems are deployed which could remove a significant contribution to the operating costs of the traditional energy generation and distribution business.Tim Hade LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/timothyhade/Scale Microgrids corporate website: https://www.scalemicrogrids.com/Ryan Maughan LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-maughan-a2893610/Ryan Maughan on Twitter: https://twitter.com/acexryaneTech49 website: https://etech49.com/eTech Podcast archieve: https://etech49.com/about-us/podcasts/

TM4's history started in the early '90s, Hydro-Québec, the forward looking power generation utility for the Canadian province of Quebec, had a research and development team that was experimenting in electric vehicle drivetrain systems trying to develop technology that would make cleaner alternatives for vehicle powertrains viable. With some notable successes leading to the TM4 business being created in 1998. In 2018 the business received a major investment from the Tier 1 transmissions company Dana, where Eric became head of global electrification sales.Eric left Dana to join the team at Danfoss Editron heading up the on-highway business unit in July '21. Danfoss Editron is the division of the major global Tier 1 Danfoss focused on heavy-duty electric powertrain solutions for mobile applications in marine, off-highway and on-highwayRyan and Eric discuss the history of the electric commercial vehicle space and Eric's experiences and his outlook on what is looking like an exciting future within the Danfoss business. Including how the Editron business origins and the continued investment in the area with the recently announced merger between Danfoss Silicon Power and Semikron.Eric Azeroual LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/eric-azeroual-9b093a5/Danfoss Editron website: https://www.danfoss.com/en/about-danfoss/our-businesses/power-solutions/danfoss-editron/Ryan Maughan LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-maughan-a2893610/Ryan Maughan on Twitter: https://twitter.com/acexryaneTech49 website: https://www.etech49.comeTech Developments website: https://www.etechdevelopments.com
