We are born. We die. In between we watch a lot of films. And some of these films shape the people we are. This is a podcast about those films. (And a bit about death.)
Join comedian, actor, writer and swimmer Brett Goldstein and an extra special weekly guest as they go all the way into life and death by way of movies, to ultimately pick their Films To Be Buried With!
The Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein podcast has an original concept. The actor/writer and show host asks his guest of the week to imagine that they are dead. Then Goldstein asks them questions about the movies they watched during their lives. It sounds a little morbid but the responses are fascinating.
Goldstein plays soccer star Roy Kent in the award-winning comedy series Ted Lasso. On Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein, he plays the gracious host. Each episode features a celebrity. Since he is British, many of the guests are British actors, writers, or comedians, like Chloe Petts and Jessica Knappett. American stars like Sharon Stone, Kevin, Smith, and Jim Gaffigan talk as well. But the host also interviews people outside the entertainment world, like self-help author Brene Brown.
Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein has a simple format. Most episodes of the podcast have the same questions. Goldstein will ask what was the first movie the guest remembered seeing. He also asks them about guilty pleasure movies. Some of the questions are about what films the guest finds sexy or funny. Others ask about their unpopular opinions. What movie does the guest love that others hate (or vice versa)? Goldstein asks other simple but probing questions about cinema to get good responses.
The podcast started in 2018. Movie buffs may find something interesting in each episode. More casual filmgoers might want to search for episodes with guests they want to hear more from. And they'll hear about movies they may want to learn more about. Listening to a few of these may get listeners asking these questions of themselves. Food fans will enjoy the annual "Menus to Be Buried With" episodes. These are Red Nose Day show benefit episodes for charity.
The Films To Be Buried With podcast releases new episodes each week.
