Our Editor's Take

Devils in the Dark is a true crime podcast for fans of the most disturbing cases. Hosts Helen Anderson and Danni Howard explore the darkest stories of murder. Beyond simple mysteries, the show shares stories with extreme violence. Each episode includes graphic details of heinous crimes. This is not for family listening or for anyone sensitive to hearing violent depictions.

Helen and Danni take listeners into the minds of depraved killers. They explore each moment of the crime and then tell the killer's story from the beginning. The podcast evaluates the killer's origins and psychology. In many cases, the perpetrator has a morbid obsession or unnatural desires. Devils in the Dark focuses on crimes with depraved acts.

The extensive research gives listeners a complete account of each story. Every podcast episode shows a commitment to meticulous fact-finding. Helen and Danni bring a delightful British flair to the show, complete with a witty dynamic. They deliver fascinating commentary as well. As they discuss the details of the murders, they offer thoughtful insights. They analyze the historical context and the culture in the location of the murder. The result is a thought-provoking examination of the most horrific crimes.

Helen and Danni made a surprising announcement at the end of the third season of Devils in the Dark. Due to the stress of producing the show, they decided to end the podcast. The time commitment of researching each episode became unviable. Helen manages her own retail brand, and Danni gave birth to a daughter.

The two hope to return to the podcast format in the future. While fans of the show may be sad to see it end, there are three seasons of episodes to revisit. True crime enthusiasts may enjoy the curated collection of crimes that push the boundaries of human darkness. Devils in the Dark is a great choice for true crime fans who want to learn about the most gruesome killings.
