Breathing in clarity with Jen Roth
Why does it feel like clarity is so hard to find?In this episode, I get together with Clarity Coach and breathwork enthusiast, Jen Roth, as we share our experiences and passion for breathwork and how it helps others find clarity through our work as coaches. We talk about how breathwork and coaching pair together like peanut butter and jelly, exploring how this somatic practice has helped us to solidify our own purpose and believe in our capabilities. We touch on the topic of the current "certification craze" and how – while certifications can be valuable – they aren't always necessary to pass on your wisdom and practices to others. We also discuss the power of collaboration with likeminded souls who are also saying "yes!" to sharing their gifts. Finally, we navigate through the topics of joy, teaching, and the importance of finding embodied safety. Discover how breathwork can assist us in tapping back into our natural state of happiness and gratitude, and examine how imparting what we learn deepens our own understanding – when facilitated in a safe environment. Learn how the potent combination of breathwork and Clarity Coaching can pave the way for a safe space during breathwork. Don't miss out on this invigorating and enlightening conversation that celebrates our unique contributions to the wellness field, in encourages to make your own!Support the showJoin Brilliant Breathwork, Jen's monthly membership offering multiple weekly live breathwork sessions with a trauma-informed facilitator, an extensive vault of replays, and a supportive community for authentic, creative, and radiant growth. Navigating modern spirituality with breathwork – with Ben Holt
How do breathwork and spirituality relate to one another? For those who have "lost" our religion, how do we start to navigate what spirituality really means to us?This is, in part, what Ben Holt came on the podcast to share with us today. Ben is a breathworker and teacher whose long journey of coming home to himself laid the foundation for creating a big, beautiful impact in the world through his offerings and businesses. In this conversation, Ben bridges ancient wisdom with modern insights to share how plant medicine, breathwork, and other holistic practices have supported him along his own spiritual journey – and how technology is part of the awakening that, in his eyes, is elevating our collective consciousness in a positive way. We unravel the historical significance of breath in various spiritual traditions, discussing into its role as a bridge connecting the physical and spiritual worlds and the science behind intentional breathing and its profound effects on our physiology and mental well-being. Ben sees breathwork as a potent tool for supporting people in untethering from the societal conditioning that's keeping us in a state of human suffering so we can come home to what is truly meaningful to us.Takeaways from this episode:If you see someone who has achieved success, there's been a decade of  doubts, fear, and unworthiness they've overcome. Despite the negativity visible in the world around us, we are evolving in an upward trend. Be open to seeing reality for what it actually is, instead of fixating on it being something familiar to you.You can experience "God" within yourself, and breathwork is a way of helping you do that.Magic is all around you, but you have to be willing to let go of everything you've been told to truly see it. ----This episode is part of Brilliance of Breathwork Month, an initiative bringing greater awareness to this transformative healing modality.----Meet Ben HoltBen Holt is the founder of Connect and Evolve, an experiential program focused on providing resources for preventative health as well as full-spectrum wellness and spiritual growth. Healing pain and the neuroscience of breathwork – with Andrea Freemyer

Healing pain and the neuroscience of breathwork – with Andrea Freemyer
How does someone with a PhD in neuroscience come to be completely enamored by the body?Meet Andrea Freemyer, PhD,  a trauma-informed breathwork facilitator, embodiment coach, nervous system educator and nature connection guide. She also happens to be one of my mentors!Through her studies to become a PhD in Neuroscience, Andrea discovered that pain and trauma live in the body and that sustainable healing happens not at the level of the mind, but in the re-patterning of the nervous system and the depths of body connection. When the body heals, the mind follows. As she was beginning to awaken more deeply to what  this means for every human, the very foundation of Andrea's own life was shaken. With a young son at home to care for, her husband died by suicide. In her intense suffering, Andrea had nowhere to turn but inward, and that's where she found the answer. It was through this process of facing her own pain that Andrea discovered just how disconnected she'd been from her own feelings. She realized she had forgotten how to love and connect. Through a courageous journey, Andrea learned to heal her complicated grief with the power of her own presence. This story sets the tone for the deeper dive Andrea brings about the science behind breathwork, and how we can leverage this powerful, built-in tool to come back home to ourselves, to learn to love, and to connect in ways we may currently feel too scared or vulnerable to accomplish. Listen in to hear:The science behind breathwork and how it supports your health through nervous system regulationThe power of presence in healing deep trauma and painWhy embodiment practices like breathwork are so desperately needed right now----This episode is part of Brilliance of Breathwork Month, an initiative bringing greater awareness to this transformative healing modality.----Meet Andrea Freemyer, PhDAndrea is a neuroscientist, trauma-informed breathwork facilitator, embodiment guide, and nervous system educator. Her focus is on helping humans strengthen the mind-body connection with a blend of nervous system education, embodiment exercises, breathwork, and nature-based therapies. Utilizing a combination of science, energy work, and spiritual practices- her approach promotes nervous system health, a sense of embodied safety, and a deeper connection to the presence holding us.She is passionate about inviting people home to their bodies, hearts, and full expression. Is Breathwork the tool you're missing on your self-development journey?

Is Breathwork the tool you're missing on your self-development journey?
Have you been twisting yourself into a perfect pretzel to do all the meditation and mindfulness practices the experts have told you to do, but can't seem to make any progress on the flurry of limiting beliefs running through your mind?So many people give up on mindfulness practices because they feel pressured to do it "perfectly" or they can't seem to quiet their mind enough to feel like it's "working." As part of Week 1 of Brilliance of Breathwork Month: Demystifying Mindfulness, I share the two big moments where breathwork very practically came into my life as the thing that transformed my own personal journey. These two moments were just the beginning of how impactful breathwork has been on my life, how it took me out of the suffering of the past and the "wanting" of the future so I could become fully present in the now.In these moments, there were  two books whose ideas about mindfulness and breathwork were transformative for me: 1. Chi Running by Danny Dreyer2. You are Here by Thich Nhat Hanh These books helped me to realize that, when we are in physical and emotional pain, we are living in the past. When we are dissatisfied, we are living in the future. The only place where we can be truly satisfied and complete is in the "now."Breathwork, often overlooked in the realm of personal growth, has been gaining recognition for its incredible potential to unlock our inner potential, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. But what exactly is it, and how can it impact your life?Whether you're a seasoned self-development enthusiast or just beginning your journey towards personal growth, this episode will provide you with invaluable insights and practical tools to elevate your well-being and unlock your fullest potential. This episode is part of Briliance of Breathwork Month, an initiative to provide education and tools to demystify the profound  mental and physical impacts our breath offers to our health, wellbeing, and even our careers.Thank you to Pamela Marie Hobby for your contribution to today's Thursday Thread episode by creating a jingle!Support the showJoin Brilliant Breathwork, Jen's monthly membership offering multiple weekly live breathwork sessions with a trauma-informed facilitator, an extensive vault of replays, and a supportive community for authentic, creative, and radiant growth. How to know if you are tethered, and what to do about it

How to know if you are tethered, and what to do about it
In a world that often seems fixated on perfection, where the pressure to meet others' expectations can feel overwhelming, it's easy to lost sight of who you truly are. Come with me to explore the profound significance of untethering from perfectionism, pleasing and other people's expectations to reclaim your authentic self. As someone who has (and is) continuing to unravel this for myself, I know the challenges of waking up one day and wondering, "Who the heck am I under all these masks?"So many of us wake up one day and realize the societal and external pressures have completely shaped our sense of self, and it can take a bit to come back home to what is truly aligned for us. The truth is that pleasing and perfectionism can hinder our creativity, personal growth, and our ability to have true and genuine relationships. It is worth the pain of untethering. Truly, it is.In this episode, I share ways to identify where you might be tethered, and offer you some ways to break free from the ropes that bind you so you can unleash your imperfections. These are what make you truly unique and magical – the unicorn who you are.  It's okay to set your brilliance free!So pull out your satchel of magical self-compassion as I encourage you to embark on a journey toward self-acceptance and a life that is in coherence with your true self.Remember, unicorn: You cannot rush the untethering. Let it unfold exactly as it should.  Signs you might be tethered:You're worrying a lot about what other people want or needYou're worrying about what other people thinkYou're procrastinating or you're putting things offYou're asking everyone else for advice, and nothing is helping you gain clarityWhat to do about it:Become present. Use a tool like breathwork, meditation, or any other simple mindfulness practice, even a creative practice like the Color Walk we learned from Rob Walker a few weeks ago.Meet yourself where you are, and accept it. Have compassion for yourself in moments of frustration. When you catch yourself wanting to rush, remind yourself that you can trust that everything is happening for you in perfect timing.Today's breath practice: Leaning into trustThis Thursday Thread episode pulls a thread from Tuesday's episode featuring Dawn Calvinisti.Support the showJoin Brilliant Breathwork, Jen's monthly membership offering multiple weekly live breathwork sessions with a trauma-informed facilitator, an extensive vault of replays, and a supportive community for authentic, creative, and radiant growth. Unshaming Your Spiritual Journey

Unshaming Your Spiritual Journey
How do you release shame you’ve experienced along your path of self-development and growth?Today I reflect on my own spiritual journey and the ways in which shame  has impacted my experience over the past decade or so. I’ve personally experienced a bit of a homecoming back to myself, and as I’ve done so, the path has consistently surprised me. The thing that has most shocked me is my shift back into spirituality. In fact, I fought it for quite sometime — until it practically beat me over the head and I finally cried uncle about it.In this episode, I give you a peek into my experience in hopes of it normalizing this for you or anyone else who may be supported by hearing what I’ve been through specifically when it comes to many facets of spiritual shame.I felt shame when I felt pulled away from my religious upbringing, and I felt shame when I came back to spirituality. And I felt triggered by it all for a long time.Hope there’s something good for you here in these reflections, and that it invites you to open up to your experiences (and those of others) with less judgement and shame — and replace it with loving curiosity. This is a Thursday Thread episode pulling a piece from Tuesday’s episode featuring Allison Holley. Breath offered in this episode: Loving the JudgeSupport the showJoin Brilliant Breathwork, Jen's monthly membership offering multiple weekly live breathwork sessions with a trauma-informed facilitator, an extensive vault of replays, and a supportive community for authentic, creative, and radiant growth. How to light up with the world with ecstasy and play- with Allison Holley

The Art of Noticing: How to take control of your own attention and use it for good – with Rob Walker
How can the simple act of paying attention make you more creative and spark joy in your every day life?Rob Walker, the acclaimed author of "The Art of Noticing," is here to show you how to use your attention to sharpen your senses, attune to your inner creator, and uncover hidden beauty and meaning in everyday moments.During the interview, we discuss one of my favorite exercises for honing your observational skills, The Color Walk, and how you can begin to use it to engage your own Art of Noticing. Rob emphasizes how this simple (and fun!) challenge can help us slow down, pay attention, and savor the richness of the present moment.Rob also shares his passion for demystifying mindfulness practices, highlighting how accessing the benefits of presence does NOT require you to be a perfect yogi or a meditation guru (or even a breathworker!) Though I am a breathwork facilitator and teach some of the more "intensive" mindfulness practices, I am in complete agreement with him on this and a big advocate for incorporating mindfulness in the ways that feel great to you! One of the most practice applications of The Art of Noticing that I use in my coaching is supporting people in discerning what is meaningful to them – which is an underlying theme Rob mentions in the episode.Whether you're an artist, a business professional, or simply someone seeking a more meaningful existence, this conversation will help you untether the creative inside of you. Listen to this episode to hear:Why paying attention pays off.How simple creative exercises can train your brain in mindfulness. How noticing the world around you can support you in becoming more creative. Why the things that only you notice are where you should be paying the most attention. After listening to this episode:Take yourself on a Color Walk!Use the Art of Noticing to start noticing things that bring you joy.The big, important question from this episode:Is chili a soup?  (What do you think?) MEET ROB WALKERRob Walker is a columnist and journalist covering design, technology, business, the arts, and other subjects for a variety of publications, including The New York Times, Fast Company, The Atlantic, NewYorker.com, Design Observer, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Lifeacker. How to become your own hero – with Ashley Meyer
In a world filled with challenges and uncertainties, sometimes the greatest hero you can have is the one within yourself. In the eyes of today's guest, Ashley Meyer, it's about dang time you started believing in it. "You have a gift that they world desperately needs. Just because you wonder whether it's needed or not doesn't invalidate it. You are so needed."Get ready for an episode that is going to plug you into your own magic, because this message pretty much summarizes this episode with Ashley, who is a proud supporter of the hero you see when you look in the mirror every day. In this conversation, we explore the notion that each of us has the potential to unleash your inner gifts and use them to be of service to the world. We chat about the importance of self-belief and compassion as Ashley shares practical strategies to build the confidence to be your full, vulnerable, and authentic self. Listen to this episode to hear: Affirmation that your gifts are SO much more needed than your mind might be telling you.Quotable:"Decide that your voice is needed, because it is.""It's you. It's always been you. No one else holds a candle to what you bring."Ask yourself: "Does this thought make me feel good?" If not, choose another thought that does."Who you are and what you bring to the world is a gift. The secret is to believe in who you actually are for long enough to offer those gifts.""No one wants a perfect hero. That's a boring movie!"Takeaways from this episode:Start with one person, and focus on deeply serving them.Be okay with being in process. Take personal responsibility. Where are you outsourcing your power?Don't be attached to the outcome. Enjoy the process. Sales is service. Focus on other people and how you can be of service to others.MEET ASHLEY MEYERAshley Meyer is a Confidence & Business Coach who teaches "Culture Catalyst," an 8-week program developed at Stanford University. Ashley's embodied many roles along her personal transformational journey as a veteran, CEO, wife, daughter, and friend. Within Ashley's unique approach to coaching, we all have personal control in our lives. How to make hard decisions and live an authentic life

How to make hard decisions and live an authentic life
How do you make a hard decision, and feel good about it?It's easy to get caught up in the things you think you "should" be doing and end up designing a life on someone else's terms. As someone who has completely reinvented her career three times over, I understand the guts it takes to untether yourself from relational,  cultural, and societal expectations so you can choose your authentic path.Still, there's been one spot where I've been tethered for nearly 20 years:  the decision not to have children. As a Midwestern Catholic girl,  making this choice felt shameful. Like I was turning my back on all women everywhere, choosing not to enjoy the full fruits of the experience I'm meant to have. I have long felt like something is wrong with me for not desiring to go that route with my life. This shame kept me in limbo. While knowing I was making a decision that was aligned for me, I held a low grade fever of potential regret. Maybe, someday, I'll regret this. And so, while I knew the right choice, and was continuing to make that choice day-to-day, I kept the door cracked open. Until now. And sure, I'm 40 and the time clock is ticking, which certainly is a forcing mechanism, but my husband and I have finally made the very solid decision that kids are 100% off the table, now and forever. Guess what I feel? F-R-E-E.There was so much internal struggle on this choice, and once I made it, I feel absolute freedom, and peace. The shame I felt around it is gone, because I know the freedom it brought me.You see, the feelings in your body don't lie, and I know to trust this feeling of freedom in my own body. This is the way to peace with your hard decisions. Follow your aligned sensations in your body. What are the feelings that bring you peace? This is where you find authentic alignment, and the world need your truth more than it needs you do things you feel like you "should" be doing. In this episode, I walk you through a very simple exercise to help you align with those feelings so you can begin to make choices from that place.Listen to this episode to hear:How shame around my decision not to have children made me question my worth as a woman The ways we can be shamed by our aligned choices, even if no one is directly saying to you that what you're doing is wrongA short somatic breath practice you can activate when faced with a hard a choiceThis is a Thursday Thread episode where I pull a thread from the previous episode featuring Anna K Morris: How to intentionally craft a life you loveSupport the showJoin Brilliant Breathwork, Jen's monthly membership offering multiple weekly live breathwork sessions with a trauma-informed facilitator, an extensive vault of replays, and a supportive community for authentic, creative, and radiant growth.
