Our Editor's Take

TAGGED is a fictional social media thriller about impersonators stalking travel influencers. At least, Tre and Karlie think they have impersonators until they're locked in a Greek jail and questioned about a murder. This audio drama podcast moves in unexpected directions.

In the podcast, Karlie and Tre are on a European tour, celebrating their marriage. They're posting travel content for their followers. The newlyweds begin in a Portuguese city known for the world's largest waves. They find an idyllic location to photograph the crests. They take the picture, and it's a good thing they do.

TAGGED starts when the couple travels to Barcelona. They're touring a church while Tre scrolls through Portugal photos. He notices a couple behind them in a picture. The woman is wearing Karlie's shorts. On closer inspection, their outfits are identical. The man even has Tre's tattoos. The couple starts posting the same content as Tre and Karlie. They notice the couple's account name is "Where the Day Takes 2." Tre and Karlie's account name is "Where the Day Takes You." Tre thinks the couple is parodying them. Karlie is less amused.

The imitators start committing copyright infringement and scaring Karlie. The woman wears a skirt like Karlie's. Karlie can't recall posting photos of herself in it. How did the woman find it? In Paris, a man named Spencer compliments Karlie. He knows her but didn't know she got married. When Tre asks who he is, Spencer says he and Karlie got engaged a year ago. She ran away a week before the wedding with the ring. Spencer then insults the ring Tre gave Karlie. A fight ensues, and more questions develop.

Tre and Karlie don't know who the followers are. Do they know each other? TAGGED keeps listeners guessing. Ben Hardy and Jessica Plummer of BBC One's The Girl Before play Tre and Karlie.
