Rock or Clay

There are many times that we try to run away from God as he is doctoring our souls. Often times there are seasons God takes us through to prune and clean out the detrimental parts of our sin nature. This time, although painful, is the most fruitful because God wants to give you not just what you want. He is good enough and wise enough to give us what we need.

In this week's episode, we ponder the wanderer - aka. sinners or all humans. This means that no one is immune to wandering, not even one. It is in our sinful nature to flee from the Lord, but that is where fulfillment is found. So in order to not flee to immorality and stay tethered to eternity we must cling close to the one who has promised to hold us. Acknowledging our humanity is key to gazing so purely at God's glory. His word calls us to recognize the power that sustains us in the now. We can look to him and entrust him with every current struggle and celebration we have. Situations may not change but realizing who the savior is and how he is with you in your suffering helps you see the season through the lens of your father. If we are constantly looking to fulfill our own desires and our own will we will be searching for a very long time. The truth is that nothing fulfills more than Jesus and following His will is truly what fulfills. We must lay down our own agenda, why? because this life is simply not about us. Your purpose is to provide greater praise for the only one worthy of it.

This life is not our home. It is the car ride to our beautiful destination to fully abide forever with Jesus. Jesus never promised this life to be easy but he wants to partner with you to participate in the greater purposes he has planned for his children, in the here and now. The enemy wants to use dependency to discourage you from doing the things of the Lord. But God wants to show you the strength found in letting go and releasing it all to him. It is a blessing to be brought to a place where you can only depend on Him. It is hard but it is the best thing for us to run to His feet and grasp so tightly onto Him alone. The world tells us we are to worry about being alone, being fully known, and being in lack. All of these are richly supplied in Christ and it's only through him that we can have full reassurance. Because of Him, we do not have to fall prey to the lies that lead to fear, we can have peace knowing we have Him.

In this week's episode, we look at the Psalms to remind our hearts, souls, and minds that we are to be sheep of his hand and people of his pasture. He is the lifter of our head and promises that he will keep us, we just have to rest in His hand. His hand is the one that has true power, protection, healing, and comfort. God has already paved your path. When we follow in the footsteps that the Lord has walked before us we are committing to walk in his will. His will and ways are so much better and are so much higher than our own. His sovereignty is sure and he sees so much more than we do. So let go of the pen and let the author of the world write the beginning to the end of your story. As Matthew West's song echoes - "My story, Your glory."

In this week's episode, we take a look at the devotional on rockorclay.com called His Timing. God is not surprised by the events that have been, currently are, and will come to pass. He holds everything in his perfect timing. Often when we try to get ourselves out of the season we are in on our own efforts we miss all that God wants to show us in that season and in his perfect timing. God hears your questions when the answer is no, yes, and not yet. He knows that we are bound by time but he is not, so press into the one who sees the whole picture and never misses a second. "The biggest thing you can hold onto is not your timeline its holding onto trust in Him."

In this episode, we talk about how God is bigger than your trials. He is near to the brokenhearted and he wants to meet you right where you are. You do not have to clean yourself to come to him. "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." Psalm 51:17 But, He doesn't want you to stay stuck in your affliction, he wants to show you how he is moving. In this episode we walk through Devotional #3 - Heaven Sent which can be found on rockorclay.com. This devotional talks about Dane Ortlund's book Gentle and Lowly. We often like to ascribe human characteristics to the character of God. By placing our image onto God, which is realistically the opposite of what should happen, we can easily harvest greater disbelief or mistrust in him because we think his character images ours - broken. He is perfect in love, trust, humility, kindness, and goodness. He is I Am. This is why we need to be reminded of the miracle of the gospel! He has invited you to simply live in his presence. This living is covered by his good graces, meaning that he has good plans for his children. The invitation is for you to know his good is ultimately found in eternity and open to you to live towards today. He is in control of your yesterday, future, and today and invites you to live fully into that knowing he holds everything in his loving hands.
