Episode #16 - Navigating Rejection
03-08-2023
Episode #16 - Navigating Rejection
In this episode, I explore the universal experience of rejection and its profound impact on our lives and relationships. Rejection can leave us feeling hurt and scarred, with some developing an intense fear of rejection rooted in important life experiences. To navigate rejection effectively, it's crucial to uncover the factors that fuel this fear.I delve into the various aspects of life where rejection commonly occurs, including job applications, relationships, academics, and social interactions. Statistics reveal that a significant number of job seekers experience discrimination during their search, and the average person may face approximately five rejections in their lifetime. The impact of rejection on mental health is not to be underestimated, as repeated experiences of rejection and social isolation can contribute to depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.When faced with rejection, we tend to respond in one of three ways: aggression, passive acceptance, or assertion. While aggression can stem from hurt and vulnerability, passive acceptance leads to feelings of inadequacy and powerlessness. On the other hand, assertion represents a balanced and constructive response, where individuals maintain self-worth while empathizing with the other person's perspective.I discuss how fear of rejection can be linked to self-critical thoughts originating from past experiences. Encouraging self-compassion and understanding the roots of self-criticism can promote self-nurturing.Additionally, understanding and tracking rejection in the nervous system and identifying adaptive survival responses can help address the fear of rejection.  Practicing love and compassion can be a powerful tool in transforming these narratives, understanding their origins, and creating a more positive mindset. My new online course is now available, it's self paced and has 10 lessons it includes everything I've covered in this podcast and more!! - REJECTION RECOVERY: LIBERATION & EMPOWERMENT!!Don't forget to follow, like and share!!If you'd like any free resources or ask me a question you can contact me here!Ways to work with me: //www.everhealing.com.au/Rejection Recovery - my online course for those who embrace liberation and empowerment, transform your relationship with rejection and thrive.Intimacy In Sobriety - my online program for women in sobriety who want to navigate more intimacy.Follow me:Instagram: @e.v.erhealingFacebook: e.v.erhealingPlease note that the information, opinions, and recommendations presented in this Podcast are for general information only.So much lovexxxxx
