Our Editor's Take

True Crime with Kendall Rae is a true crime podcast with the focus on these most hurt. The host chats with local families and victims about their losses and experiences. This podcast is the audio version of Kendall Rae's eponymous YouTube channel. Here, she breaks down each case in a way that makes them accessible to everyone. Her signature approach is about keeping an open mind and practicing empathy. This formula has garnered her more than three million YouTube subscribers to date. Kendall Rae uses her platform to help victims and their families tell their stories. She tries to raise awareness for their loved ones and help them find justice. She expanded her channel to podcasting to reach and help even more people.

Kendall Rae started her popular YouTube channel in 2012. In the beginning, true crime wasn't on the agenda. It was in 2017 that she began to pursue the popular genre. She wanted to give people hope. In 2018, she started involving affected families to help them find justice. The move proved successful. True Crime with Kendall Rae does many smaller cases, and hopes to find resolution.

Kendall Rae does bigger true crime episode stories, of course. She talks about famous cases, like Jaycee Duggard's disappearance. But she also does many smaller stories to hope to find justice. Beyond True Crime with Kendall Rae, she also hosts The Sesh with her cousin, mental health expert Janelle Fields. In addition, on the Higher Mile podcast, Kendall Rae chats about crime and conspiracies with her husband, Josh.

Poisoned by Her Son’s Ex-Girlfriend or Someone Else? The Suspicious Death of Mary Yoder
Mary Yoder was the picture of health, she loved the outdoors, tending to her garden, and working at her family-owned chiropractic office with her husband, Bill. But in July of 2015 she became mysteriously ill. After 2 days in the hospital, and 8 total heart attacks, Mary lost her life. Nobody could explain what happened to her until a poison control expert solved the mystery. Mary died of colchicine poisoning. But who poisoned her? It was her son’s ex-girlfriend, Kaitlyn Conley, who also happened to work at the chiropractic clinic. After 2 trials and 1 hung jury, Katie was convicted of manslaughter, however, her supporters, which include 3 of Mary’s sisters, feel she has been wrongly convicted. What do you think? This Teen Killer’s Interrogation Almost Sent Detectives Over the Edge… the Isabella Guzman Case
Isabella Guzman was a difficult child for her divorced parents to raise; however, they did their best to support and love her. But as the years grew on, she became more and more difficult to handle. Her mother, Yun-Mi Hoy, particularly struggled with her and eventually reached her breaking point. She called the cops on her daughter, hoping they'd talk some sense into her. It not only didn't work, but it appeared to make things worse. That same evening, Isabella locked herself and her mother in their bathroom and did the unthinkable... meanwhile, her stepfather was downstairs able to hear the entire attack. After ending her mom's life, Isabella went on the run but was quickly found by police. She ultimately pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, given that doctors diagnosed her with schizophrenia. She's remained in the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo, Colorado since the murder, although she has begun petitioning for her release. The Murder Mystery of the Greystone Mansion

The Murder Mystery of the Greystone Mansion
On the night of February 16th, 1929, Lucy Doheny, wife of Ned Doheny (son of the oil baron Edward L. Doheny) heard a gunshot in her home – The Greystone Mansion – at about 11:30 PM. She called the family doctor, and only when he arrived did she go investigate the noise. She and the doctor made their way to the source of the noise, where they discovered Hugh Plunkett, Ned's childhood friend, distraught, holding a gun. When Plunkett saw the two, he ran into Ned's room, and another gunshot was heard. Mrs. Doheny and the family doctor rushed in to find both Ned and Plunkett dead on the ground. The official story in the papers the next day was that Plunkett let himself into the mansion (he had a key), had shot Ned, then himself. Case closed. Or was it?
