How to Safeguard Yourself From Online Scams--S6.E5
Today we pivot slightly to talk about a growing concern in American society--Phishing, Smishing, and Vishing. That is, online scams involving email (phishing), texting (smishing), and voice or telephone (vishing). They're not only unethical, they're downright illegal. Scamming incidents are on the rise and they're getting more sophisticated, leaving thousands of victims in their wake. This episode provides information on three important areas: The first segment describes common scams out there, and our personal experience with them. In the second part (29:36) we give you a list of safety practices to help keep your assets protected. The third segment (44:30) outlines immediate steps to take if you find yourself caught up in a scam. Knowledge is power and forewarned is forearmed. We hope the discussion in this podcast leaves you better equipped to spot scams and to keep yourself and your family protected. Some tips in this podcast came from the Kim Komando email on technology called "The Current."
