Harnessing the healing powers of food, with Dr Rupy
Best-selling author and founder of The Doctor’s Kitchen, Dr Rupy Aujla is one of the biggest names in lifestyle medicine. Starting out as an overworked junior doctor, his health was massively impacted when he suddenly found himself suffering from a heart condition characterised by episodes of a very fast, irregular heartbeat. While doctors recommended aggressive medical treatment, his traditional Indian mother suggested he look at his lifestyle first - it worked, leading to his new career showing people the medicinal effects of eating and living well. In this informative chat, Dr Rupy recounts the revelation of how his research into nutrition, sleep, exercise and breathwork resulted in this change in lifestyle and no more irregular heartbeat episodes. He and Gemma discuss practising gratitude, nutritional psychiatry, how the gut microbiome links to mental health, and probiotics. He also shares his morning routine and why a good foundation to the day is so important. This lively podcast will give you a boost of positivity as well as easy, practical pointers on eating to improve your health and happiness.  ResourcesThe Wellness Edit/ Holland & BarrettFollow us here https://www.instagram.com/hollandandbarrett/?hl=enhttps://www.hollandandbarrett.com/the-health-hub/podcast/ Dr Gemma Newmanhttps://www.instagram.com/plantpowerdoctor/?hl=enhttps://gemmanewman.com/ Dr Rupyhttps://thedoctorskitchen.com/@doctors_kitchen https://linktr.ee/doctors_kitchenNew The Doctor’s Kitchen app https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id1568122827  Hosted on Acast. Why what I used to think about health has changed, with Jonny Wilkinson
When it comes to sports legends, they don’t get much bigger than Jonny Wilkinson. He’s one of the most decorated rugby players and famously represented England in the 2003 World Cup Final, when his drop goal clinched victory for the nation in the last 30 seconds. However, in recent years he’s branched out: today he is a mental health advocate and motivational speaker. He hosts his own podcast, I Am, which features thought leaders and pioneers talking honestly about their challenges and inspirations. And he’s passionate about healthy eating, with his own range of fermented food products, No.1 Living, on sale at Holland & Barrett. In this deep and spiritual chat, Jonny and Gemma discuss the importance of living in the now, and how it feels to reach your goals, only to have the experience not live up to your expectations. Jonny talks about how health isn’t a goal you can ever achieve, but a work in progress. He recalls how his passion for gut health started and what it means now, and how it’s part of his overall journey in terms of how his perception and appreciation of his body has changed since being a sportsman. This is a really rich conversation with so much for everybody to take from it, as well as Jonny’s practical tips for wellbeing.ResourcesFollow us here https://www.instagram.com/hollandandbarrett/?hl=enDr Gemma Newmanhttps://www.instagram.com/plantpowerdoctor/?hl=enhttps://gemmanewman.com/ Jonny Wilkinsonhttp://www.jonnywilkinson.com/@jonnywilkinsonofficial https://www.no1living.com/H&B products No.1 Living Gut & Brain Kombucha Health ShotNo.1 Living Gut & Immune Kombucha Health ShotNo. 1 Living Passion Fruit Sugar Free KombuchaNo. 1 Living Raspberry Sugar Free KombuchaNo.1 Living Ginger Sugar Free KombuchaNo.1 Living Water Kefir Lemon with Yuzu & MintNo.1 Living Water Kefir Strawberry with Rhubarb Hosted on Acast. Why fashion is a form of self-care, with Kat Farmer
Kat Farmer, AKA @doesmybumlook40, is loved on social media for her honest but upbeat posts, whether that’s laughing at herself in an unflattering outfit in a high street changing room, or getting raw and emotional sharing the challenges of parenting a teenager with autism. Now, with her new book Get Changed: Finding The New You Through Fashion already a Sunday Times bestseller, she talks to Gemma about how what we wear is linked with our sense of personal identity and how so many of us lose track of who we are - especially as we get older and find our time and energy taken up with work and family. She shares some practical tips about finding your fashion tribe, talks about her own experiences of menopause and getting older (and why you should wear what you want at any age) and her guilt at not realising her daughter was coeliac. This is a hugely positive listen for anyone who wears clothes. Ultimately, Kat’s message is that at the end of the day, we all deserve to like the person we see looking back at us in the mirror - and she wants to help get us there. ResourcesThe Wellness Edit/ Holland & BarrettFollow us here https://www.instagram.com/hollandandbarrett/?hl=enhttps://www.hollandandbarrett.com/the-health-hub/podcast/Dr Gemma Newmanhttps://www.instagram.com/plantpowerdoctor/?hl=enhttps://gemmanewman.com/ Find Kat on Instagram@doesmybumlook40https://katfarmer.komi.io/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Get-Changed-Finding-through-fashion/dp/1784727784/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=kat+farmer+get+changed&qid=1619601775&s=books&sr=1-1  H&B menopause range:https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/vitamins-supplements/condition/women-s-health/menopause/ CQA - FREE Women's Health & Menopause wellness consultation from the comfort of your homehttps://www.hollandandbarrett.com/info/video-chat/    Hosted on Acast.
