This is an edited version of The Business Show on Marlow FM on 23rd December 2021.

My guests were Tom Copas and Tony K Silver - connect with them at https://www.linkedin.com/in/tom-c-copas-96128b23/and https://www.linkedin.com/in/tonyksilver/respectively.

This episode was a first for The Business Show – an outside broadcast, live from the Copas turkey farm – see details at https://www.copasturkeys.co.uk/ .

On that basis, how else could I start the show other than playing John Lennon’s “Cold Turkey” – you can hear it at https://youtu.be/2C6ThAaxrWw , maybe while you’re munching on your cold turkey.

The format of this episode was a little different, starting with a 1-2-1 conversation between Tom and myself, before he had to go off to deal with a million things that needed to be done – a busy day on the farm.

As well as talking about the flow of customers through the farm and the potential for a hybrid event next year, we look at the impact of panic buying, and the massive problems with casual labour experienced by the business, resulting in a 95% staff turnover since last year.

Tony K Silver’s first track for us today was “Driving Home for Christmas” by Chris Rea – listen in to find out why he chose it, go to https://youtu.be/EvDxSW8mzvU to hear it for yourself.

Tony, who is a LinkedIn profile expert, starts by telling us about what Solid Silver Solutions does for a living and explains why he’ll be rebranding early next year.

We then turn to the first of three business news stories to discuss, all of which had a positive spin – you’ll find it at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59695242 - are you surprised too?

Tony’s other music choice was Bing Crosby with “White Christmas” – if you also want to feel nostalgic, have a listen at https://youtu.be/w9QLn7gM-hY.

His first choice of business conversation was sparked by the story at https://www.simplybusiness.co.uk/knowledge/articles/2021/12/2022-predictions-small-businesses/ - we by no means agreed with all of the predictions – let’s see what happens in 2022!

Our final conversation was also Tony’s choice – you can find it at https://news.sky.com/story/uk-tech-sector-enjoys-record-year-after-start-ups-attract-more-capital-than-ever-before-12500579 - maybe we should all be starting tech companies!

Given that we were on a farm, I thought “Junior’s Farm” from Paul McCartney & Wings would be a good choice to close on – have a listen yourself at https://youtu.be/pEil2e_bUvg.
