In this episode, we delve into a topic that holds immense importance for every business owner: the value of time. Based on insightful conversations with fellow entrepreneurs, we'll explore why you simply cannot afford to overlook the way you allocate your time. Often, we get caught up in the whirlwind of tasks without realising the true worth of our minutes and hours. I challenge you to consider the opportunity costs of your decisions and introduce a practical exercise to help you reevaluate your priorities. Join me as we uncover the secrets to making conscious, impactful choices that propel your business forward. Let's dive in!Key Takeaways:Time is the most valuable currency, and it's non-renewable. We often underestimate its worth.Every choice comes with an opportunity cost. Saying yes to one thing means saying no to something else.Use the four box exercise to evaluate tasks based on their value. Assign a monetary value to each box and categorize tasks accordingly.Identify tasks in the lower value boxes (e.g., £15/hr) and consider delegating or eliminating them.Understand the value of your time in different aspects of your business. Clinically, your time may be less valuable than when working on high-impact business strategies.Consider the long-term benefits when allocating your time. Focus on tasks that yield significant returns rather than immediate rewards.Don't let lack of funds be an excuse. If a task is crucial, find creative solutions or seek affordable help.Be conscious of how you spend your time. Every decision shapes your future. In some cases, patients may choose to continue treatment as private payers.Engaged patients tend to adhere better to their treatment plans, leading to better outcomes and an improved clinic reputation.Clinic owners are encouraged to consider their dependence on insurance work and make bold decisions to shift away from it, allowing for increased financial autonomy and room for innovation. 039 Why People Pleasing Is Killing Your Growth with Katie Bell
In this episode of the "Treat Your Business" podcast, I want to talk about people-pleasing and how it's affecting your business growth. As health and wellness professionals, we often over-service and over-deliver because we genuinely care about our clients' results and want to be seen as experts in our field. This desire to please others can lead to scope creep, where we end up doing more and more without getting adequately compensated. One of the main reasons for people-pleasing is the need for external validation. We want to hear that we're doing a great job, and it becomes a part of our ego to receive such praise. Another reason is fear; we worry that if we don't say yes to everything, we might disappoint others, lose our reputation, or be seen as only interested in money. However, it's essential to set clear expectations and boundaries right from the beginning of our client interactions. By doing so, we can avoid over-promising and under-delivering, which often leads to frustration and burnout. Our needs as business owners must be met first for us to deliver the best service to our clients.Saying no strategically is more powerful than saying yes to everything. It allows us to focus on activities that truly move our business forward and avoid diluting ourselves with unnecessary tasks. Self-reflection is crucial in recognising patterns of people-pleasing behaviour and setting healthy boundaries that will support our business growth.I invite you to take a moment and reflect on your actions. Are you over-delivering and people-pleasing more than necessary? By documenting these activities and analysing your patterns, you can identify areas where you need to set better boundaries and say no more often. Remember, it's okay to say no strategically to prioritise your business and well-being. Let's take steps towards a more successful and fulfilling business journey together.Key Takeaways:People-pleasing can be detrimental to business growth as it leads to over-servicing and over-delivering without appropriate compensation. As health and wellness professionals, we often feel the need to over-deliver because we genuinely care about our clients' results and want to be seen as experts.Clear expectations and boundaries should be set from the beginning of client interactions to avoid over-promising and under-delivering.Saying no strategically is more powerful than saying yes to everything, as it allows us to focus on activities that genuinely move our business forward.Recognising patterns of people-pleasing behaviour and setting healthy boundaries is crucial for business success and avoiding burnout.Resources: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thrivebusinesscoachinghttps://www.facebook.com/thrivebizcoachinghttps://thrive-businesscoaching.com/Book your business and marketing audit call here - we only have 5 slots per month! https://thrive-businesscoaching.com/schedule-a-call This podcast is sponsored by the team at HMDG

037 Healthcare Professionals Governance - A Must-Know Guide with Sarah Tribe
Welcome back, to another exciting episode of the "Treat Your Business Podcast" with your host Katie Bell. Today, Katie is joined in the studio by special guest, Sarah Tribe, Co-Founder of Healthcare Professionals Governance (HCPG). Sarah is here to shed light on the crucial topic of informed consent. If you're a healthcare professional or clinic owner, this episode is a must-listen as we explore the ins and outs of informed consent and its profound impact on your business and patients.Meet Sarah Tribe and HCPG:Sarah Tribe is a founding member of HCPG, a company dedicated to helping healthcare professionals navigate the complexities of governance and policies in their businesses. With a background as a physiotherapist and experience in running a care home, Sarah brings valuable insights into the importance of informed consent in healthcare practice. The Misconception Around Informed Consent:One of the major misconceptions that Sarah addresses is the belief that obtaining written consent at the first assessment is enough. She clarifies that simply signing a generic form does not constitute informed consent. To truly ensure patients are well-informed and protected, healthcare providers need to have a comprehensive informed consent policy and patient information leaflet.Understanding the Montgomery Standard:Sarah highlights the shift from the Bolam standard to the Montgomery standard in healthcare. Under the Montgomery standard, practitioners are required to disclose all potential risks and benefits to patients, allowing them to make an informed decision about their treatment. This can be time-consuming but is an essential aspect of providing transparent and responsible care. The Importance of Documentation:Having a policy and patient information leaflet is only one part of the equation. Healthcare professionals must also document all interactions with patients regarding informed consent. Sarah recommends providing patients with a detailed risks and benefits sheet for each treatment modality, ensuring they are fully aware of what to expect.Informed Consent for Minors and Individuals with Fluctuating Capacity:Sarah delves into the complexities of obtaining informed consent for minors and individuals with fluctuating capacity. It's essential to understand the three-stage test for mental capacity and work diligently to ensure individuals can make an informed decision about their care. In cases where patients lack capacity, seeking consent from appropriate legal representatives is vital.Building a Solid Portfolio of Evidence:By adhering to the principles of informed consent and maintaining a strong portfolio of evidence, healthcare practitioners can protect their businesses and patients alike. Sarah encourages healthcare professionals not to shy away from seeking help and support in understanding and implementing informed consent procedures. As we wrap up this enlightening episode, we hope you have gained valuable insights into the significance of informed consent in your healthcare practice. Sarah Tribe's expertise from HCPG reminds us of the responsibility we hold as healthcare professionals in providing transparent and patient-centric care.
