E42. Moving Toward A Life You Love with Michele Maguire
Mint Miller is the creator and host of the BetterMint podcast. Mint’s podcast is meant to help others by letting her experience be their survival guide because in her stories and in her healing, she believes that others will recognize their own.  As a divorced, single mom of two young girls, Mint has felt stuck in her career for the past 20 years that massively triggers her anxiety. Compounded with the stress of going through a divorce, the combination has caused that anxiety to become debilitating. It wasn’t until doing recent trauma healing work that she realized much of her anxiety is a trauma response to past experiences from childhood. She finally used what she learned in her healing journey and began to set limits and boundaries that changed the narrative of her life and allowed her to step into who she really is and the person she knows she was meant to be. Mint feels that her practice of setting limits and boundaries has made such a profound positive impact on her life that she wants others to learn this practice and experience the same positivity and balance in theirs. She works with successful “go-to” women by coaching them through her “3 Yes Boundary Method” to help them identify what they value most in their lives, so they can say YES to what is most important to them and have the confidence to say no to what does not align. This approach also helps women understand their own value and that their worth can be driven by happiness and purpose, not just by performance or the opinion of other people. Mint resides in the Boston area with her two little girls and their new golden retriever puppy. Michele Maguire and I talk about everything from getting unstuck in careers that don't serve for us, spirit guides, boundaries and trauma healing. Trauma healing was a major focus of our conversation and a journey that Michele has been on for a while. She realized that she wasn't just an anxious person. There was unhealed trauma behind her anxiety and it was affecting so many of the choices she was making in her life from who she chose to marry, what career she was in, poor boundaries, and how she parented. Therapy and doing the work has helped Michele gain clarity and take control of her life. She quoted a guest on her upcoming podcast (Better Mint) by saying "what we don't change we choose." What is happening in your life that you want to change, but haven't? Whatever it is, there is always an opportunity to see how our past is defining and creating our current reality, and making the choice for change. Enjoy the episode friends. E33. Transforming Darkness into Light: One Women's Inspiring Journey to Health & Happiness
Host of the Life After Breath Podcast & Health and Mindset Coach, Julia helps others find their light, realize their value, and optimize all aspects of health! Julia and I had a beautiful conversation where she shared her journey from the depths of considering suicide to the place she is now, full of hope, joy, peace and gratitude. The journey was long, but it began with a single step, a choice to live and to get healthy in her body and mind. When the pandemic hit, Julia found herself at home, alone, 300 lbs and a shell of her former self. She really didn't believe there was anything to live for. She had spent her whole live giving her power away and ignoring her wants and needs. So much so, that she didn't know what she wanted or needed anymore. Her body was numb and her mind spent its days abusing her by calling her every name in the book. Then one day, she said, no more. There has to be a different way. And so began Julia's journey to health. She became so passionate about this work, that she now helps other people do the same thing. Julia believes that the journey of self discovery can and should be fun! That every person is worthy of being healthy and happy, live the life they have dreamed of, and find freedom in their lives. During our conversation Julia lays down some simply stated but poignant facts like; we can't know what we want until we know who we are, that the best part about making a choice that you don't like, is that you get to make a different one and the way you learn to do inner work, is by doing it. Her gentle, loving way comes through in every part of our discussion. Julia is a light in this world that you are going to want to shine on you! E32. Making It Through The Messy Middle with Brooke Koeninger
About Brooke After working in corporate for over twenty years, helping big businesses like Revlon, Hilton and Discovery scale their operations, become more efficient and launch new products, I saw too many women juggling too much at home, taking on too much at work and burning themselves out in the process.  I finally realized, we shouldn't be working to break the glass ceiling, but launch and grow our own businesses where the ceiling is limitless!I take what I learned growing businesses in my corporate job and apply it to help women launch and grow their own businesses, while ensuring they are prioritizing their health and wellness and living their most authentic, fulfilled life.  Brooke and I talk about how we often outsource our identity to our jobs and our roles as mothers, wives etc. When we think about rediscovering ourselves and the things that make us happy and fulfilled we often see the need for change in our lives. And change is so scary. And it is especially scary when we don't know exactly what we want, but we know that there has to be something better than this. When we move from a known in our life (like a job, a marriage, a location etc), to an unknown is hard! And to go from our known to a the unknown, we have to go through the messy middle. The messy middle is the space of self discovery where we are trying new things, learning a lot and embracing risk. It is scary and uncomfortable, but oh so worth it. If you want your life to change, you need to be brave enough to enter the messy middle. Brooke and I discuss how we can do that with as much grace and joy as possible.
