I am finishing up a memoir that focuses on trauma, forgiveness, understanding, and compassion. As I edit, I consider what is fair to say and how to explain to readers how important it is to understand the impact of intergenerational trauma and the complexity of healing. In my memoir, I only write about deceased family members and do so with a desire to understand and explain their behavior and the pain that guided it. I also delve into the intergenerational resilience, strength, and grit.
