Revelation 14: Will there be a Pre-Tribulation Rapture or Will Believers Have to Go through Tribulation? (1:9)

The Bible Mind Podcast: Experiencing our Life and Times from a Christian Perspective

15-05-2022 • 39 mins

In today's episode, we answer the important question:  Are Christians meant to go through the tribulation?

Those who believe in a pre-tribulation rapture would say "No!"  Why?  It's because we are not meant for God's wrath.

Though this is true, there's evidence in the Bible that going through tribulation is a part of the Christian life.  God uses it to strengthen and purify us.  He also uses it to test the genuineness of our faith!

When John speaks about being our "brother and companion," he's letting us know he's with us in the trenches.

We explore the word "tribulation" in Greek and from different angles to discover the ways we can endure through the hard times to come!

We all need to develop a right theology of suffering.   If we don't understand what God says in His Word about the topic, instead of being prepared, we can become disillusioned, even offended.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1.   What does it mean to "arm yourself with the mind of Christ?"  You can have the mind of Christ for many areas, but the context in this passage here is suffering.

Paul writes about it in warfare terms.  Why is it important  to defend this way of thinking?
Especially in our day and time?

What passages can you meditate upon in order to embrace God's view of suffering?

2.   We looked at Matthew 13:21 in the parable of the soils.  This is the person who received the word with joy, but because he had no root in himself, he (stumbles/is offended/falls away).

Why is this an issue in Christendom today?  What factors can contribute to believers being set up for a fall?

What does it mean to develop a root within oneself?  This is a very serious question, one which demands an answer.

Pray into this topic.  What steps will you take to develop a well-established root system?
