Each year we suggest that pets not be given as gifts during the holidays. Are these pets being abandoned, given away or taken to the local shelters soon after they are given because the recipient really didn’t want a pet? Brigid is here to discuss long- held beliefs and practices that are coming into question to reflect what is really going on with pets that are given as gifts. Brigid Wasson is a lifetime animal care and welfare professional. She is a retired animal shelter director and has been a professional pet sitter since 1994. She is the President of Mission Reunite, a nonprofit dedicated to missing pet prevention and recovery. She is an international speaker and writer, focused on providing advice and support to animal care and welfare advocates, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
