Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, The Official Podcast analyzes the Bridgerton spinoff of the same name. Series creator Shonda Rhimes crafted a backstory for the perplexing and demanding ruler. On the podcast, host Gabrielle Collins dissects each episode. Listeners also learn about the making of this complex human tale.

When Bridgerton premiered on Netflix in 2020, the historical romance drama delighted viewers. The second season arrived in 2022 with similar enthusiasm. Based on the book series of the same name, the show tells the story of a Regency-era family. Their search for love and fulfillment has often hilarious results. The series earned many honors, including an NAACP Image Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

With 2023's Queen Charlotte, Shonda tells the heart-wrenching tale of a young girl. She marries into the Royal family and must become its ruler. Her relationship with King George is a tale of love, mental illness, and politics. Podcast host Gabrielle insists that Queen Charlotte is an epic love story. She invites the cast and crew to join her to discuss each episode. Shonda herself comes on to discuss her process. While on the podcast, she remarks on the freedom women have now. Unlike Charlotte, Shonda can do as she likes without asking permission.

In some episodes, listeners hear from the teams behind the music, costumes, and writing. In others, the actors join the podcast to discuss their roles. Casting director Kelly Valentine talks about selecting the right actors for each character. When Golda Rosheuvel and Adjoa Andoh join, they discuss their favorite scenes to film. The two play present-day Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury. Michelle Fairley, who portrays the Dowager Princess Augusta, shares her greatest challenges. Her wig and costumes were glamorous but required hours in hair and makeup.
